Ohio is the WHAT state?

That's right - the BUCKEYE state. 12 dozen of Lorrie's buckeyes made and rolled. Tomorrow I'll do the chocolate dipping. And since I'm training for my competition, you KNOW I can't eat them (hey - for the first time ever I think, I didn't even lick the bowl!:p) So I will happily bring them along and share with any who so desire. See you next week.

Oh no....I knew I was in trouble as soon as I saw the title of this thread. They are sooooo gooood.....but sooooo evil!!!

HeeHee - they're done - and off to the freezer till next week. Thanks Jodi. Last year I brought coffee mugs from "the Ohio girls" each filled with 6 buckeyes. and gave one to Cathe and one to Nancy. Little, sweet, powerhouse Nancy. About 5 minutes after I gave it to her, she came and found me and said how good the buckeyes were. I asked "oh - you tried one already" to which she said "no, I tried them ALL!"

As and avid baker and sweets eater, which was VERY evident this past weekend while shopping for clothes for the Road Trip, those Buckeyes sound delicious! :D

I remember -- you brought those to the RT last year!! Yum!!!
If they are as wonderful as you say, maybe you could post the recipe?
:D Also, then, the people who don't get to taste yours, can make the cookies(is that what they are?) themselves!:D

Pretty please? ;):D

thank you!

Here you go....Lorrie posted the recipe after last year's RT. They are so good!

Remember me pushing these cookies at you all? I was doing that because, as I told Nancy, if they stick around me, then they really do "stick around me" and that's not a good thing. HA! So here you go:

Lorrie's Buckeyes

2 sticks butter, melted
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 pound powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts

Mix all ingredients together and roll into bite sized balls. Refrigerate until set. Meanwhile, melt 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips and1/2 cup parafin wax in double boiler. Dip the tops of the balls into chocolate mixture for the buckeye appearance.

Enjoy.

Hi Linda - I think I did post the recipe after last year's RT because I had a lot of folks asking. Many people make these with just peanut butter and powdered sugar which I think is way too sweet. But I have a bunch to bring.

ETA: thanks Jodi - we posted at the same time. I thought I did that.

Lorrie, I think we were posting at the same time....I copied your recipe from last year above.

Can't wait to see you...just a few more days!!

edit: and we were posting AGAIN at the same time, LOL.

HeeeHeee - must mean great minds think alike?? I know - only a few more days! I need to make my packing list.

Thanks Lorrie and Jodi (great minds which think alike)!
If your samples dissappear at the RT and I don't get one, then I will be able to make these at home!

I noticed it had 2 sticks of butter -- WOW!! That must mean they really taste yummy!

thanks again!
