Oh yeah. I NAILED it!

I had my interview and it went GREAT!!!!! I met the woman I interviewed with on the phone last week and we really hit it off. As an HRIS Manager, I was completely able to relate to the challenges she faces as an HRIS Manager. We had great chemistry. I loved the building, the location, the business casual attire. I asked when they would be making a decision, and she said hopefully by Monday. Then I asked what the next step was and she said, "Well, I probably shouldn't say this, but I want to offer you the job." So she was going to speak with the VP of HR (who was the first lady I met with today and also had a good experience) about salaries and my offer, then she anticipates they'll call me on Monday.

She showed me the desk that will be mine and it's facing this enormous window. The office is on the 25th floor, so the view is spectacular. It actually make Buffalo look like a nice city! Actually, Buffalo is a nice city - it's just broke.

I'm so excited. She asked if I would have any objections to travelling to Asia or London and I said, "Oh yeah! Twist my arm!" I don't know how much of that travelling I would do, since I will no longer be the manager. Just a well-paid analyst with an awesome view.

Donna,

That's terrific! Today I am doing your superman imitiation and changing in the car on the way to my interview this afternoon. Hopefully I'll have the same response you did.

Congratulations Donna! My husband and I lived in Buffalo for 4 years. I had one of the best jobs of my life there and I was very sad to leave! Enjoy your weekend!

Donna~

Your post is a real picker-upper! I can "hear" and "feel" your excitement. I hope everything goes as you wish. The job sounds INCREDIBLE! I wish you all the best! Thanks for sharing.

Oh good luck, Colleen! I actually used McDonald's bathroom, but I did my makeup in the car (parking lot, I wasn't driving).

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!!

Oh Donna, that's FANTASTIC!!! Congrats. Let us know on Monday when you get the offer. Man, the weekend is gonna either drag or fly by!

I remember going for an interview for a job I REALLY wanted. I had already interviewed with HR, the person I would be replacing and this was my final interview with the person I would be working for. It was Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. At the end of the interview, she said "do you have any other questions?" and I replied "Yes, I'd like to know if I have this job, because I don't think I can make it through a whole weekend not knowing!!!". I guess she liked my chutzpah, because she offered it to me right then:)

WooHoo!!! A huge window view on the 25th floor?!!! Sounds pretty VIP to me. Good luck to you.

It's nothing compared to her (my potential supervisor) desk. Her's is in the corner of the building and she's got a window in front of her desk and on the side. Looking out the front, she's got a view of the city and Lake Erie out the side window. She was very excited to show me her spot.

Man, I really hope it's a good offer! It's with HSBC, so it's not like they can't afford me.:)

Well Done You! I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for ya! you sound so excited:D

p.s. Good luck with yours too Colleen:7

Congratulations Donna!!

Your story has been so inspiring. Thanks to you I made my resume "viewable" on Monster and Career Builder, and have had some interesting leads - just none in south Florida where I'm trying to move.

And your interview stories, especially this one!, have been great to read as well. I haven't conducted a "real" job search in 14 years - and it's soooo intimidating! (I've changed jobs within the university I work for, and have gone on "formality" interviews.)

I've been so nervous thinking about the prospect of interviewing, but you reminded me of the whole "chemistry" factor - and when you click, you click! If you don't, chances are the job wasn't meant to be, and you move on. I also tend to forget that it's as much about you interviewing them as it is you being drilled under a magnifying glass.

Again, congratulations because I'm sure you're going to get good news on Monday!

Joni

Good luck, Joni. The best interview advice I can give you is to think of lots of examples of projects and situations that you've handled at work that have been successful. You can relate those to almost any question that's thrown at you. Since you're using Monster.com, go to the interview section and check out the virtual interviews. Also the frequently asked questions. Decide what your answers will be and practice answering them out loud. I've had interviews at 4 different places using this strategy and received offers from 3. 2 of the offers turned out to be for something I wasn't actually interested in (something different than what I had come to interview for), and the 3rd is the one I interviewed for today.

I have to add that I don't think I've been asked ANY of the questions that are given in the examples, but because I've come up with answers I had a strong memory of my successes and could mold them to the questions that WERE asked. Correction - you're ALWAYS asked what your greatest strengths are. Not always weaknesses, but definitely strengths.

The clicking thing is a MAJOR factor. I had one interview 3 years back where I left thinking the woman would have been a total b-word to have as a boss. I threw that interview on purpose by high-balling my desired salary to a range I knew they wouldn't meet. (I didn't want to jeopardize my unemployment by not accepting an offer). This interview was the absolute best chemistry I've ever experienced in an interview. Very much like the chemistry I have with the women I currently work with, but that took a few weeks to develop.

So I'm going to drop this subject because you're all probably getting sick of it. Plus I've got a huge spider on my wall that I'm thinking wants to go back outside. Now if I can just find something to put him in...

Boy, Donna, you are just chock full of good news these days! You have been so lucky professionally lately! I am sure it is through much hard work though and well earned. I am happy for you and know you will get the job! Congrats!
