Carole (and other interested parties, lol).
First, I gotta repeat that I LOVE FREESTYLE. On Thursday this past week, in prep for my 10K race today, I ran the 6 mile length (kind of just to make sure that I knew on race day that I was prepared, lol). My legs felt great, but still I worried about doing all that leg work and then today's race.
ANYWAY, my personal goal has been to maintain a 10-minute mile. I went into this morning's race shooting for exactly 1 hour. I was able to run with my marathon running partner and he kept telling me that I was going too fast for him! LOL
I FELT SO STRONG and my legs never waivered ONCE! Not one time did I start thinking about how my legs hurt or anything, and today's course had 3 (not 1, not 2, but 3) pretty good hills on them that had us all frightened for a moment. BUT...again, my hips, my legs and my glutes all felt good and carried me right up and over them all.
About 1/4 mile from the finish line, before we could see the clock, I asked my partner what time he thought we made. His answer was 1:04:00. I KNEW we went faster than that, I could feel it. WE DID.
Clocked in at 57:52.
HAPPY DANCE for the freestyle and what it's doing for me!
Now, on to the NEXT RACE! LOL
