Obama's Inauguration

HI Everyone,

Anyone lucky enough to get tickets to Obama's inauguration? Anyone get tickets to any of the inaugural parties? I wrote to my Congressmen and Senators but was placed in a lottery for tickets. Thus far, I have not heard back from them. Since I am in the military there is a chance that I can go and work, but I really want to go and enjoy the parade and festivities.

I'm not going to be lucky enough to be there, but I'd LOVE to go. This is one moment in history that I don't want to miss, but it looks like I'm going to.

I'm with Wendy Torrence on this one too. I despise crowds! I get downright grouchy. I'll watch it on TV and be just as happy. Warmer too.

Speaking of watching T.V. does anyone know what time the inauguration is going to be on?

I imagine the cable networks will have some sort of "all day" coverage, but I believe it happens in the late morning. I'm SO excited - I'm taking the day off of work to watch the whole thing and I plan to record it, too. I would only want to go if I could get a "good seat." If you're in the back of one million people what's the point. Very cool either way! I just saw the movie "Bobby" and was really amazed at the parallels between that time and this. Here's hoping for a successful presidency!

Personally you couldn't pay me to attend. It's gonna be a zoo, & probably a not very safe one.

Boy, ditto to THAT! I live in Northern Virginia, and am dreading going to work that Tuesday. I will take the "back way" in, avoiding I-95 and Route 1 like the plague. Invitation or not, you're going to have to be born in DC on the 20th in order to be in town; it's just going to be gridlock everywhere!

Sheesh, one fender-bender along the side of the side of the road creates havoc for hours around here. I really beleive the only way to get into DC that day is to rent a helicopter and drop in.

I live in MD just outside of DC and I will not be going anywhere near DC. I am lucky because I work in the opposite direction of DC. I would much rather Tivo it then deal with the crowds and the craziness with the inauguration. I realize this is going to be a historical event but you are going to be so far away that you won't be able to really see anything. You will get a much better view if you watch it on TV.

Oh, if I had a ticket and the wherewithal, I'd be there in a heartbeat. No questions asked. I've lived in DC, so I know the crowds you're mentioning, but even if you couldn't "see" anything, just being there and witness history would be absolutely incredible. Of course, I'm lucky enough to have a BIL who is within easy walking distance to where the event will be held, so I would not be relying on roads and stuff to get me there.
