oatmeal

An apple diced and microwaved to soften, then cinnamon and Splenda.
Blueberries, strawberries, mango, banana w/pecans, blackberries, peaches, natural PB, natural choco PB just to name a few I use.

Stevia is a natural sweetener that has been used in Paraguay for centuries, and is the standard sweetener used in diet products in Japan. It is very sweet, low glycemic, and actually has health benefits (in toothpastes, it helps neutralize bacteria that cause plaque, for example). Just a little goes a long way. You can get it in powdered form (usually mixed in another base, because it's very difficult to use the small amount necessary otherwise) in liquid form in a glycerin or alcohol base. Just a few drops of the liquid in a glass of water makes it sweet (too much starts making it taste a bit licorishy almost).

In addition to the liquid stevia, I use a powdered stevia that comes in an inulin (fiber) base.

natural peanut butter and unsweetened baker's cocoa (and splenda)

but even better: natural peantu butter and (8th continent) LIGHT chococolate soy milk! YUMMY!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

dark honey (more antioxidants and it tastes better!), cottage cheese, and cinnamon. Definitely slow-cooked oatmeal, steel cut when I bother to get it. Makes a huge difference.

There are some great ideas for oatmeal here! I do the same thing everyday with my oatmeal...I add frozen strawberries, blueberries, and cherries and vanilla soymilk...microwave it, then add half a cut-up banana, a handful of chopped walnuts, and a couple of teaspoons of flaxseed meal. I love this to death and haven't gotten tired of it yet. I think the calorie count is pretty high, probably about 475 calories, but it tides me over for quite a while in the morning and early afternoon, and I find I eat less in general during the day. I really want to try some steel-cut, though (right now I'm using old-fashioned).

I add 1/2 cup cooked egg whites, 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal, a small amount of sugar free maple syrup, 1 TBSP natural PB or soynut butter and a spray of butter. It sounds odd but it tastes really good together.

Phyllis,
I found it at the regular grocery store in the health food section. All the stores around here carry it.
It was more than Quaker Oats, but I didn't consider it expensive. I can't remember what I paid, but the cost wasn't even a consideration (and I am a big time coupon cutter and bargain shopper!:p )

Phyllis,
I think regular whole Oats are way, way, way better than quick! Also, I think it's worth the extra dime to buy Quaker instead of store brand. Also, if you like it creamy make sure you use cold water and cook it on low. If you like it chewy you use hot water. I get way picky about my oatmeal!
