O/T Fax machine puts black line thru everything

I have noticed this seemsto happen to others too- but what can be done about my copier/fax machine? It puts a vertical black line through every copy it makes. I suspect every fax goes out like this too.

Someone told me she had hers cleaned at a store, and told me how to get there but no name.I went there and the stores there were all closed. It was a Saturday.

Is there a way to fix this at home? I imagine a little dust bunny is in it somewhere. Any insights appreciated.

BTW I did Muscle Max chest, back, and shoulders this morning.

Have you tried changing the ink in it? I know that one of ours in my office throws a line down when it needs more ink.

There may be a burnt spot on the lamp/sensor that is viewing the original. Are you sure the outgoing fax has a line if so it is the scanner. If the line is only on your copy, then it is the printer. Clean the print head or replace it.

This happens to mine when the drum needs replacing. It's a separate, but equally expensive!, tube, like the toner.

In desperation I have looked at the manual. It shows how to clean the scanner (duh). I will do it and report back.

Oh for G*d's sake. I opened it and found a smear on the scanner, wiped it off, wiped off a similar oneon the white strip aboveit, and I assume it is fixed.
