nutrion?

I would like to find a class about nutrition but not really sure where to start. thought maybe if I took something about it I would maybe eat better and could follow a plan better. Is there any online that any of you know of? Also interested in personal trainor info too.

Tons of community colleges (and regular colleges) offer online nutrition classes. Probably best to look at some in your area for in-state tuition, but most will let you take just one class.

Some have personal training classes too, though lots of people learn that on their own with books. I did a biomechanics class online as a pre-req to my master's degree. It was through UCLA extension and it cost about $500 for 3 credits (out of state). A local community college might be cheaper.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

I was just going to say that, check out the community colleges! I am taking a nutrition course in the fall and the tuition is cheap!

Hmm...I think it also depends on what kind of learner you are (self study or need a class for motivation?) and the time you are able to commit to it.

There's always the library.

Community college classes are a great idea, which you can do in person or online

For some really good basic info online, check out this gov site:http://www.nutrition.gov/nal_display/index.php?info_center=11&tax_level=1&tax_subject=389
For some great online classes, check out Human Kinetics: http://www.hkeducationcenter.com/HKUSA_Work.cfm

And if you decide to do a personal trainer certification, you will get a lot of nutrition info! I am ACE-certified, you can find out more info here:

wow sandra, your transformation is awesome. Here I am feeling like losing 10lbs is so hard and you lost 100lbs. I cant believe how great your arms and abs look. What workouts do you do? I really want to get more definition in my arms and abs as well, but its been a slow progress. How much cardio do you do and how many days of wts? i just finish shldrs and arms from P90x. I have been trying to incorporate it 1x week and squeeze for the lower body just because my legs tend to bulk up with to much weighted exercises. I am so close but yet so far away from getting that leaner body I want so bad but cant seem to have the will power when it comes to diet. I do good for a few weeeks and then I fall off the wagon cuz I dont see any wt loss. anyway, I never give up completely, I usually try and try again but havent seemed to get it right yet. Maybe some day.

Hi runfree!

Oh, thank you so much! Well they are good pics, I still have loose skin on my arms and abs (but mostly on my thighs--ugh!!)

I do a large variety of workouts--Cathe Muscle Max is a favorite, kettlebells, shock cardio, p90x, p57, bike, walking, elliptical, swimming, etc. I try to mix it up a lot. I normally do 2-3 days of weights and 3-4 days cardio, just depends on my energy and work schedule though.

You nailed it though, for many of us the food/diet part is much more important for weight loss and seeing the lean definition we want. Emotional eating is challengning. You can't give up!! Just when it feels like it's not happening is when it will start to happen. You have to push through that part and know that you are worth it. Your health is worth it! Dig deep and find some reasons that will keep you going, things that really motivate you. You can do it!:D

so do you do total body workouts or do you do seperate muscle groups on different days? what is p57? I am looking into nutrition classes hoping it will help me get this under control. I am not horrible with the eating but I do go thru spurts where I eat junk several days in arow and then I will have several where I eat good. I did just get a diabetic diet with different calorie ranges hoping this will get me jump started. I feel like I am starving if I eat 1200-1300 calories but neet to find that range where I am satisfied but not over eating and not starving. I think I will begin with 1500 calories and see how that works out for me. After I had my kids I followed a 1200 calorie diabetic diet and worked out 4 days a week and was able to lose the extra wt from pregnancy but I was desperate to lose the wt since I had never weighed that before in my life but once I got back down to prepregnancy wt I didnt follow anything. I even got below my pre baby wt and felt great ,so much for those days. I didnt notice any loose skin on you. I thought your abs looked great and so do your arms. wish I could have the success you have had with your transformation. I only want to lose 10 lbs but it seems so hard for me, like by body just dont want to let go of it. anyway, Ihave started adding in more wts but just one extra day and see what kind of results I get. I have been doing the shldrs and arms from p90x and then wt from my bootcamp class 1x week, I might try to add another wt workout . I was doing 5 days a week of cardio and only one day of wts but not really even doing much wts cause I was only doing one exercise per muscle group 2-3 sets and I know you really need to do 3-4 different exercises per muscle group to really see a change. thanks again for your help!
