number of meals

I get so tired of hearing that 6 meals a day is a must for weight loss. There are so many other ways to eat. Personally, 6 meals a day left me stressed and hungry. I have been doing intermittent fasting for about 6 months now, basically 1 or 2, 24 hour fasts per week and I have finally shed the 10 pounds I gained when I turned 40. I had been trying for 5 years to lose weight, doing the 6 meal a day thing, with no success at all. IF works for me, but might not work for everyone.

thanks for your response. i've considered IF but honestly i'm afraid of going 24 hrs with no food. that sounds silly doesn't it? how was your first fast?
 
For those experiencing frequent heartburn the six meals daily can really help. I am trying to eat that way myself, having smaller snacks (i.e. carrots and hummus) while having a slightly larger lunch and dinner. Sometimes it is a pain because I feeling like I am grazing when I really want to sated.

Yeah, I was scared (terrified really) the first time. I was convinced I would just pass out. Funny enough, I don't feel the least bit lightheaded from fasting but if I eat breakfast, I get lightheaded when its time for lunch. I really don't get it. I have to say that when I fast, I feel hungry when its mealtime, i.e. at 8:00 my body tells me "Breakfast time" but if I wait it out the hunger goes away.

There are so many ways to diet, I think trial and error will tell you what's best. I have trouble with consistency so intermittent fasting is good for me because I don't have to be 100% all the time.
