Now I KNOW I'm finally in shape!

I was able to go all the way across the monkey bars for the first time in my WHOLE LIFE today! I'm 35 years old and I've never had the arm strength to get all the way across.

Thanks Cathe! :)

This is an awesome post. I tried to go across the monkey bars two years ago and I could barely make one bar. (I think part of the problem is that I was psyching myself out.) Knowing that working out with Cathe will help me to do this, I shall make it a goal.

Thanks for the fun goal! :-jumpy

Arm strength or hand skin???!!!! When I tried the monkey bars not too long ago, seems to me I remember the burning on my hands to have stopped me rather than weak arm muscles. I always wonder how kids do it..I need to take weightlifting gloves and go back out there!!!!! But good for you!!!

Kids don't weigh much, so it doesn't pull on their hands. Just like it doesn't hurt as much to fall down when you weigh 30 lbs and you're only 3 ft tall.

Yeah - the skin thing is a major obstacle. I think it would be much easier with the workout gloves - but who takes them to the playground, right? :)

What a coincidence--two days ago I tried the monkey bars at a playground (my 5 year-old son thought I was so cool) and was thrilled to be able to go across, but YOW, my hands! I hadn't remembered them hurting like that. But of course, the weight issue makes sense.

You know, I actually am going to bring my gloves with me the next time--it's a small playground and sometimes there's no one else there--I'll just slip 'em on and have fun.

See how we forget how much fun exercise can be sometimes? :)
