Not such a Happy Easter...

Oh my....you are not in a good place. I grew up in a very dysfuctional (sp?) family. I had to let them go. That may seem inappropriate to many, but just because we are related means nothing to me. I know who my family is....they are my friends. Good luck to you. I have no desire to see my family at all. Not good, but it is the truth. I hope you are feeling better.

I'm in the same situation. My family just uses me and doesn't care about me or my DH/kids at all.

Morningstar - hope you are feeling better today. Sorry you had a rough Easter. Sometimes it helps to let go of what you think families "should" do and just accept them for who they are without expecting more than they will ever give.

I didnt have the greatest of Holiday either .. and yes I have been kinda where you are .. in fact yesterday found myself alone ..shook it off ... and turned up the music .. got in the bikini  (that was enough to shock the H### outta me) ... made myself a 'wave runner' and pulled up a chair next to the pool and me and my baby dolls (fur babies) soaked up some much needed sunshine! it was VERY nice!!!

you know families are usually all messed up in one way or another .. no one lives in that perfect bubble ..even though some may look as if they do .. where we thrive they may be depressed .... and vice versa .. be tru to yourself .. take time for you ..

and girl .. KUDOS for the 8K ..wtg!!! most people would LOVE to be able to do an 8k and finish .. WTG!!!!!

and dog shows .. OMG .. I try to avoid them at all cost .. i will cry like a baby ... can not even look at the previews for Marly and Me ..even the Disney shows (sometimes they are THE most depressing) I just so NO to them .. LOL ..

I found these quotes this morning .. thought they were appropriate!!! :)

"There is only one way to happiness, and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will. "
Epictetus

"Fear less, hope more, eat less, chew more, whine less, breathe more, talk less, say more, hate less, love more, and good things will be yours."

Swedish Proverb

Morningstar congrats on your race, . . .you are a far stronger person than I am to accomplish such a feat. As far as your family is concerned, . . .try not to take it to personally. I'm not going to say suck it up either because I think you have a legitimate reason to feel sad that no one in your family acknowledged it. I think that it is hard for some family and friends to understand why fitness is a part of our lives, esp. if fitness is not a part of their lives. They don't know what it is like to Cathe with the rest of us, . . or the overwhelming accomplished feeling of strength when you lift a 25lb dumbell, . .or can drop and give anyone 20 push ups. To them finishing a race or marathon is just another one of those fitness things. You know we stand in total awe of you here, . .I know I do.

As far as watching the Dog Whisperer, . . . some of the success stories make me cry, . .esp when a dog is on death row. If you don't have a dog, . .get one trust me he/she will be there to support you every step of the way during your fitness goals and think you are the best thing since sliced bread for finishing a race, . at least once you get past the darn puppy stage.

If it makes you feel any better I cried like a little girl when I saw the movie The Blindside.
