Not strong enough...

Cathlete
Hello everyone~

Even though I am new to Cathe, I've been doing workouts for a while (if you knew what I used to do, you'd be so glad that I changed to Cathe:7 ) But I am pretty new to weights, a lot of times I can't finish a Cathe workout because my muscle isn't strong enough. That's so frustrating!

I just received my Intensity Series yesterday, and I was so excited and did Boot Camp this morning. My heart was pumping hard, I was having a good time, sweating and all. Then through the half of the workout, I couldn't finish some cardio set because my calves and quads were sore, and I couldn't do core exercise because my shoulders and arms were killing me and they couldn't support my body when I was doing planks x( I felt like I could still run a mile and my heart would still be fine if it wasn't because of my legs! Or, I could still do 100 oblique twists if it wasn't my stupid arms:p

AHAAAAAhhh!!! So frustrated! ...I know it takes time to achieve my goal.. I am so impatient:p

Hang in there! I know exactly how you feel! :) I sometimes have trouble with planks and oblique twists because my shoulders are weak too. You'll get better with time, I know you know that already. Just keep at it! Bootcamp is NOT an easy workout, so be proud of how much you were able to accomplish. :D

I second Emily :) BC is quite the workout, so be proud of how much you did! I was amazed, too, that you need to be strong everywhere for the plank work, not just the core. You will get there.

Muscle strength is always my limiting factor as well. I understand how you feel but I think you should take this as a sign that you are doing the right thing by incorporating weights into your workout. Give yourself a break, you just started doing this for goodness sake! Give yourself some time and before you know it you will become stronger and stronger! It used to bother me that Cathe always used heavier weights than I could but then I thought about it and realized that I don't mind not being as strong as my teacher because that gives me a goal to work towards. Every week I feel stronger and stronger and I know that someday I'll be at the level I want to be at. But until then, I'm really glad that I'm on that road.

This is exactly why I love Cathe's work outs! There is a constant challenge to do better and that drives me to continue and to try harder next time! }( :7

Congratulations for doing Bootcamp. That is one tough workout. Just keep at it, and one day you'll be able to do all of it. It took me forever to develop enough strength and endurance for planks. It took me a long time to develop strength in my legs as well. Just keep at it, don't get frustrated.:)

Not to mention that now you can do it TWICE! I just read your other post an am AMAZED at your stamina! I think I have a LONG way to go before I can turn around and do a really hard w/o twice! Those long term goals again:)

Thanks, Carolyn. I was amazed too, believe me. Bootcamp isn't my favorite workout. I used to do just the premixes. I did it for the first time in its entirety just a few months ago. So yesterday was the second (and third) time I did all of it. I believe Cathe now when she says it's all mental.:p

Hi Meow,

What are you talking about...sounds like you did great! The second a workout is doable and lacks challenge, it's time to move on! If it's easy, your not helping your body!

Be proud of your work! Know that everytime you try and push yourself, you are experiencing the very same gains the advanced ladies are experiencing! It doesn't matter how much you can lift, all that matters is that you are CHALLENGED!!!

Be proud of yourself, not down on yourself!!!

Thanks, all:)

I am so encouraged ;) When I can finish a Cathe workout w/out resting, I'll definitely let you know!! ...then you need to stay with Cathe for a LOOOOOOONG time :p

We ALL have our weaknesses. Well, now, you know what you need to focus on, right? BTW, at the top of MY list are pushups.

Marla:)
