not eating all day

Cathlete
so yesterday i went with my mom to see a spine surgeon (she has a bad back from years of poor body mechanics) anyway, the appointment was for 10a.m. and we didn't get in to see him till 2:30p.m which made for a long day. Yes there was food there but I didn't want any of the junk hospital food so i was stubborn and just didn't eat. I had breakfast at 8a.m. that morning. At about 1 i was starving but eventually got past my hunger and was no longer hungry. Well i didn't eat till about 5:30 and let me tell you, i swear i was up and down all night famished and eating all night! I didn't eat junk but i eventually made it to my normal cal requirement for the day. Its so amazing how your body has rebound hunger when you don't eat all day. Anyway, just wanted to share and the next time i go anywhere i'm throwing either a protein bar or some nuts in my purse.

That's a long time without eating. I personally cannot go for more than 4 hours without eating something. I literally get a shakey feeling and once I have that it turns into a headache. Then that headache takes a long time to get rid of, even if I do eat something. Since 2 pregnancies and now having 2 DDs I always have some kind of food in my purse (crackers, cheese stick or gummies :p). Hope everything works out well for your Mom.

That's me, too. And after the shakey and the headache I turn into a raging beotch and am apt to tear the head off of anyone who gets between me and my food!

Oh yeah, for this very reason I always carry nuts, dried fruit or organic fruit strips, protein bars, etc. in my purse, car and work bag. Everyone knows if they are starving I always have a snack ready on the go! This has saved me numerous times from eating a bunch of junk food! In the cooler months I always have some fruit in my car too, and now in the summer I have a cooler in my car and carry protein shakes as well as water, etc. Preparation is key!

Missing meals, for me, almost always adds up to "Adult Dinner", which is where my fella and I get to eat cake for dinner. So...I try to keep convenient snacks around, just in case!

Yep, we call that hypo-glycemic rage in my house :D

That is TOTALLY me! I feel so bad for DH because I go to the gym after work and by the time I get home I am starving. I come home acting like this raving lunatic and then as soon as I eat I am back to myself. Many times when I get home DH already has dinner close to made. I guess he figures it's worth it to not have to deal with me before I eat. :)
