Not bad for a former drunk,,,

Great job, Jerry! You've overcome some huge challenges and really shown what great stuff you're made of!

YOU THE MAN, as well, Dave...seeing as we are most definitely the minority, a "right back atya" was most definitely required!

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

Jerry - my dad quit drinking when I was 16....we had been upper middle class - my dad was a wall street broker, Ivey League grad, my mom had been a beauty queen, and I was a smart, pretty kid...no one knew the living hell that went on in our big house.....they divorced...and Dad remarried, adopted my step sisters, and has been dry for 30 years.....he pshaws it that 100 years from now, none of it will matter....but I can tell you, it has been 30 years - all three of we girls are through college, graduate school, have all made successful marriages, and have children with a grandpa who is fit, does fun things with them and the house is always peaceful and fun to visit.

He has helped countless people save their lives with his interventions into the lives of friends with alcoholism in them...

Your quitting drinking hasn't just saved your life.
You have made the world a better place.

By your post - you may have helped someone else who desperately needs to here that there is life beyond booze.

I agree - not bad for a drunk - lol - you have not just survived, you have been redeemed and prevailed.

Love ya buddy!

Thanks for all the great replies, reading some of your responses, you got the idea of why I posted this, which, basically, is.."if I can do this, there isn't a person out there who can't". Feeling better really is within reach, it just starts with the "want to".

I made alot of promises when I was at my lowest point, one of them being that if I was ever in a position to tell my story, I had an obligation to do so.

I used to search the internet for success stories (still do to this day) when I was really in a bad way, I learned from those stories what was possible, and learned that nothing is impossible if you want it bad enough!
