No Sweets -Week of July 1

Affirm

Cathlete
It is hard to believe that it is July---beginning of month 7 for our challenge. It has been a roller coaster at moments, but we are hanging in there.

Goals for July:

1. Upper Body 3 days a week
2. Increase veggie intake
3. Decrease bad carbs again (white bread, rice, etc.)
4. Focus on no to minimun sweet treats

Let me report for today. I've had a hand full of chips but otherwise eating has been good. I did B&G mix-n-match. I did squats, DL, one-legged squats, firewalkers and walking lunges and repeated that. I did 12# on one-legged squats and did as many as I could during the time frame (did not do the lowends/pulses). On walking lunges, I just did regular walking lunges with 12# dumbells. After that I did SP&J step combos and BC abs. This afternoon I did pullups 3,3,2,2,2,2,&2 for a total of 16. That's one more than last week. Ahhhhhhhh progress!!

I just ordered GS Legs and Chest and Triceps. I figured I will just complete the set since I had GS-BSB.

Today I did yoga, but my diet was awful. I had chocolate cake with frosting and other sweets my mom brought. Ugh!

My goals for July are:

1. Start losing weight again. I'd be happy with 1-2lbs since I've been stuck in the same weight for months now.

2. Having less cheat days and less treats during the day. My worst thing is eating junk when I get home from work. I start eating lots of crappy things while I cook some dinner and then dinner on top of that. Somehow I think that if I eat that crap while I'm hungry those calories don't count.:p

Catherine - Your workouts always seem so planned and organized. I wish I could do the same thing.

Affirm - Good choice. C&T is tough! Wait till you try the drop sets of push-ups. The first time I yelled: "Are you f&*^ing kidding me?!" at the TV. :7

Oh Affirm, he is so adorable!! Now you need to post some pics of yourself ;)

I had a busy day today as well. I did get in an upper body workout. It wasn't my heavy upper body as DH wasn't here to spot me. So I just did the same workout with moderate wts and more reps.

My nephew leaves tomorrow for basic training with the Air National Guard :( I am so sad!!

Today I did a short cardio, BSB, and abs. I've been struggling with my diet though. When it gets hot and humid I get headaches and in my mind I think my blood sugar is dropping so I start to eat caramels, chocolate, cake, etc. Even though they're small portions it's bad that I do that. I should drink water instead ugh!

Affirm - oh my gosh! Max is soooooo cute! :D

Catherine - Yikes. I'm sorry. I have several friends and relatives that are in the Army and Air Force. It's always tough. *Hugs* to you.

Rose ---hang in there with this wacky weather....I understand how it can make your eating habits crazy. Maybe a small popsicle can do the job.

Fitfairy--- Hugs to you. I know you will miss your nephew while he is away.

Today was upper body of Muscle Max (42 minutes) and standing glutes from Butts and Gutts (30 min.). Wow-----after those firewalkers, I could barely walk up the stairs to get to the computer for today's posting.

Now, let me focus on good eating today also.

Nice workout Affirm. I didn't sleep well last night and I had a killer workout yesterday so today I'm exhausted. I'm going to listen to my body, rest today, and I will resume my workouts tomorrow. GS Legs is on schedule. Still struggling with my diet, but it was better than yesterday.

Happy 4th of July ladies!

Affirm, what a workout!!! I love MM and B&Gs- they sneak up on ya though!!

I am sorry you've not been feeling well Rose :( I competely understand about the heat and headaches. Good to rest when you need it. I used to struggle with that, but not so much anymore. Hope GS Legs goes well for ya!!

I was sick yesterday with a stomach bug. Went to work and left at lunch. Slept off and on the rest of the day. Then got a blasted headache x( But I am feeling good today.

Off to try IMAX2. I will do what I can and take it!!

Happy Fourth of July everyone!!!

Happy 4th of July ladies. I didn't workout today. However, the videos that I ordered a few days ago arrived yesterday and I Look forward to using them. I took my kids to the movies today....I took my own snack of nuts/raisins, grapes and water. I was proud of myself for not having popcorn, nachos and icee with my kids. YEAH!

Affirm, it sounds like you had a good day!! I too take my own snacks to the movies ;) Glad you got your new videos!

I made it through IMAX 2 this morning and this evening I did one of the coremax premixes and Yoga for Relaxation-Letting Go of the Day.
I wish I could say my eating was good, but it wasn't x(

Rose, that new yoga dvd has a segment for insomnia. I haven't checked it out yet. But I thought of you when I saw that.

Hey ladies. Happy 4th!

Today I was going out and I only had about 30 minutes to workout so I decided to do the warm up and blasts of KickMax + stretch. Oh my so many temptations around me today. I had a tiny bit of ice cream, but that was about it. I'll do GS Legs tomorrow.

Affirm - good for you for resisting junk food at the movies. That *is* hard. The last time I went I had pop corn with butter and diet soda. Very bad I know.

Catherine - Where did you get that dvd? I'm really curious now. I'd love to workout twice a day, but I've never done it. I've read many times that doing a fasted cardio in the morning and doing strength training late in the day is the best way to train. By the way it's the 4th of July so you're forgiven for eating bad. I know I forgave myself for the ice cream already. :7

Rose, I got the DVD from Amazon.com. I like it because it's relaxing/stretching yoga, not power yoga LOL!!! I've got a few power yogas and this one is a nice change of pace.

I don't usually workout twice a day. Except I will occasionally on weekends or holidays. Even then, I try to keep it to one intense w/o and one easy one ;)

Okay----I must confess----the resistance of tempting foods didn't last all day on the 4th. I had an ice cream cone at the fireworks. Okay----that is one of my treats for the week, so I am only entitled to a very small treat this weekend.

This morning was the step combo of Body Max and PUB (pyramid down only).

I have to find time to preview my new tapes so I can start doing them next week.

Eh Affirm, as Rose said, it's the holiday!! You are really hitting it hard girl. Awesome workouts this week!!

Me, I haven't worked out x( Lack of sleep last night. I got up and prepped to do legs and chinups. Got dresses, put the tape in and just couldn't do it. Waaaaaay to tired. I've wrote it off for the day. Eating has been better today at least ;)

Hey Ladies. I admire anyone who has time to workout twice a day. That would definitely be ideal. If I had time to do cardio in the morning and strength training at night without burning out...I bet I could see some amazing changes. Meanwhile, I better stick to the routine that works for my schedule.

Today was GS Legs. Wow! I had so much fun and I don't even like leg workouts. Thanks ladies for encouraging me to finish off the GS series. First, let me say how I love those outer thigh with the band. When Cathe said do 32.....I was like WHAT! Then she followed it up with more outer thigh...which by then I had to skip because I was just done. The leg presses with band were pretty good also. Not overwhelming like in PUB. I also liked the glute lifts with the band. At first I didn't have proper form (elbows on the floor) and once I noticed that I was doing it wrong, I really felt the tension from the band.

I am really trying to shake things up a little bit this summer. If I recall this is my 2nd leg workout this week and I don't like leg workouts.
