No Sweets -Week of July 1

Affirm, so glad you like GSL!! I remember the first time I was doing the outer thigh work with the band and she said lets pulse 32 or whatever she says, my jaw dropped open and I threw my band at the TV LOL :D

I have been working my legs twice a week for a couple of months now and can really tell a difference. Keep it up. I'm like you, not particularly fond of leg work.

Yesterday turned into an unsched rest day. So I am due leg work and chinups today x(

Hey, where the heck is Rose? I hope you are ok girl!!

Today was legs and chinups. I did chinup sets of 6,5,4,4,&3 for a total of 22.

For Legs
Squats: 65# 3 sets of 10 (2 more reps per set)
DL: 70# 3 sets of 10 (2 more reps per set)
Lunges 50# 2 sets of 8 (legs were fried, so lowered wt from 55)
Plie Squats 40# 3 sets of 8 (again lowered a little)
Calf Raises: 28.75# 2 sets of 15 (was aiming for 3 sets of 20, but was exhausted :p )

You all would be proud. I took my mom and DN (dear niece) out to lunch. They both got tirimisu for dessert (we all know my favorite :9 ) I had 3 bites of my moms and that was it!!

Wow!Fitfairy, you sure do lift heavy. Way to go on minimizing the sweet treat. My legs are still burning from my morning workout and I don't lift nearly as heavy.:)

Affirm, I just recently worked my way up to that. I doubt I'll go any heavier on squats unless DH helps. Cause I can't get any more poundage above my head

Remember, GSL is really more endurance than strength(IMO). I can not do all of those endless sets of squats etc that Cathe does. I loathe any workout that goes above 12 reps LOL!! One day I'll make endurance my goal- maybe ;)

Hey ladies. Rest day for me today. Tomorrow I'm doing Drill Max. Diet has been somewhat okay, but I could do better. Like I've said already I'm bored with my food and I don't know what to eat anymore. Catherine, I checked out that yoga dvd and it looks *really* good. It has an average customer rating of 5 stars so it has to be good. I put it on my wishlist. Thank you for the link. I've been very busy after the 4th and it seems that everybody around me is on the same boat. Hopefully things will calm down a bit in the upcoming weeks. Oh! and I'm doing a lot of cleaning and organizing during the weekend so I have to make an effort and get my workouts first thing in the morning, otherwise I'll find tons of excuses not to workout. It seems that my body doesn't want to let go of my last 10 pounds and every single time I want to put a bigger effort something happens. I really want to lose at least 2 pounds this month so I better start taking these things seriously. I hope you both have a great weekend.

Rose, I can definitely relate to being bored with what we are eating. For example, I love the whole wheat toast, peanut butter and bananas or another fruit for breakfast. However, I do get bored with it sometimes. At the same time, it is the fastest breakfast I can make. When I have time, I like to have an egg sandwich or an omelet.

Ladies! I thought you were my exercise friends ---- Did you try to set me up with Chest and Triceps???? I know I said that I wanted to increase my upper body workouts...but oh my ! I could barely move my arms after finishing the chest. I felt like I was trembling to get through the triceps because my muscles were aching so much from the chest workout. And who told Cathe to do 18 repetition push ups down to 2 repetitions. Of course, my reps were less than hers each time. I also use my 10 inch firm step to do the push ups and on my knees. I can't do push ups on the toes and from the floor. I still do them like they did them in the FIRM which I still feel. I love those chest presses on the incline though. Oh my goodness.....I am definitely going to getting my monies worth. Thanks again ladies. THE GS series rocks! You ladies are definitely best! Thanks again!

Tomorrow my have to be a rest day....my legs are sore from GSL and now my arms will probably join them tommorrow.

Ok Affirm you really made me laugh.

Chest & Triceps is *very* tough. I think the GS series is definitely the best I own. Thanks to C&T I started doing push-ups on my toes for the first time in my life (this of course took me months and months of practice, since 2006). I now do pretty much all the sets on my toes, but I pause the DVD player and stretch for about 10-15 secs then I stretch along with Cathe after each set. Cathe's breaks on this one are way too short for me. Hang in there, the GS series will push your body to a whole new level.

I definitely can't wait for Cathe's next weight training series. I can't pre-order the latest series because I'm on a really tight budget right now, but I'm saving for the weight training series pre-sale that is coming in the fall.

Today I did Drill Max (cardio) and some legwork and tomorrow I'm doing a short cardio, C&T, and abs. Diet has been good so far.

And...I definitely agree with Catherine...walking is always good after GS Legs. :7

Rose, you're doing so well!! I love DM cardio!!

   OK, I have some serious leg DOMS going on today. It was slightly noticable this morning and as the day has progressed so has it. It hurts to walk!!! So Affirm, I am right there with you.

This morning I did upper body. **Disclamer: I went down on some of my wts because shoulders and back were sore from chinups yesterday. I also think using the heavier wts on legs worked my upper body**

Bench: 70# 2 sets of 6, 1 set of 5 and 2 sets of 4
DB Row: 40# 3 sets of 8 (down 2.5 pounds)
Millitary Press: 50# 3 set of 8 (down 5 pounds)
Skull Crushers: 16.25# 3 sets of 7 (same wt increased #reps/set)
Incline Biceps: 17.25# 2 sets of 8 & 1 set of 7 (same)
Pec Flys: 20# 2 sets of 8 and 1 set of 5- just pooped out lol!!
