No quick fix - just HARD WORK!

I ran across an article in FitnessRX this morning that I thought I'd share with all of you. We all wish there was a "quick fix" to losing weight and if there was I'd be first in line. But, we all know that hard work and clean eating is the ticket and we just need to DO IT! :)

Here is a piece of that article.......

"Hard Work! Don't pay any attention to those magazine articles that promise massive weight loss with little effort. Do 60-90 minutes of aerobics every day and lift weights for a least 30 minutes, two to three times per week if you want to look lean and fit. Also, don't just go through the motions - work it! (In Touch, Aug. 11, 2003)"

Of course, we ALL have our own workout schedules for how much cardio and weights to do, but I thought it put it in perspective for us - HARD WORK! No other way to do it!

Have a great week!

Marcia :)

AMEN!!!!!!!!! Marcia, I wish I could post this on WW ... I totally agree!! This is a LIFETIME committment. Nothing less will produce results.

While I agree that a fit, lean body does not come by sitting on the couch taking pills or just by staying sedintary, lowering carbs and expecting miracles to happen, but 60-90 min of cardio a day is a bit much, no?

Jilly- That was funny. I don't know why you hit my funny bone, you probably weren't meaning to, but you reminded me of Pepi Lapue. Just with the way you worded it. I agree though, 60-90 does seem a bit much. 60, I can see, even sometimes if I am really feeling like an animal 90. But everyday, whoa.

Jillybean:

I TOTALLY agree, I was just quoting that particular article. That's why I said that everybody has their own schedule and what works for them. :) I, personally, would fall over if I did that much cardio so often. :)

Marcia.

LOL!! Me too!! I was also agreeing that it takes hard work to be fit and lean, not necessarily agreeing with the 90 minutes of cardio thing!!

Ha, ha, ah!!!!:7 I love it! I am laughing histarically over here. I was at first very confused by what you wrote back saying, but then I remembered, and just lost it.
I completely agree that to lose weight it's lots of hard work, don't worry. But, do we really have to kill ourselves, ya know? Besides I have a son and a job that demand a lot of time too here, so 90 min of anything and someone will be screaming.;) I was just stating what I was thinking, sorry, I hope I didn't sound too angry, because I wasn't at all.:7

TA, Ta!

My new plan....

Children should count for at least 60 minutes of cardio a day, I think. Therefore, a thirty minute workout will do just fine. Unless, you count each child separately. I have three, so that's 180 minutes and that means a surplus. Naptime, merci beaucoup!.

(I used to run 35 miles a week, do two Cathe aerobic workouts and two total body strength workouts. When did I become a bum?):)

RE: My new plan....

To add my two cents, I really agree that your daily life activities can make a huge difference. There is a wide variety in everyday activity levels available.

RE: My new plan....

I read that piece as well. Its so true.Sometimes I also feel like I am just going through the motions when working out and not really paying attention to what I am doing.Cardio is pretty basic, if you want to work harder...jump higher, right?:)
Yesterday I did Bootcamp and I decided to give it my all.I used 50lbs for legs.20lb dumbbell for leg presses(cathe uses the 8lb ball)20lbs for one arm rows....I upped it on pretty much everything. And my sides are pretty sore today as well from all of those planks.I really think that I am going to try and up my weight on everything I do.Even if it is only for half of the reps and then go back to what I am use to.It seems like I haven't upped in a long time....time to up,up,up! Thats when I will probably start to see some difference in my body as well.
