No motivation to work out, getting over a cold and no energy..

Anyone else having this issue? Two weeks ago, I had energy to shovel heavy snow, workout, and still clean the house. I got sick last week, and it took my energy with it. Now, I'm feeling better but no motivation. Thanks for letting me unload.

Sorry to hear you've been sick. Sometimes it is good just to take a break.

Have you thought about just starting one of your lightest and shortest cardio w/o's and see how far you can go? It may make you feel better.

Better yet, take a walk around the block - the fresh air always makes peps me up a bit.

I hear you. I was sick all over Christmas and had to take 2 weeks off when it developed into sinus trouble. Then I realized that I could easily get used to sitting around watching TV and feeling sorry for myself and got off my butt and lifted weights for s couple of hours. That was all the impetus I needed. I have weight lifted for 2 hours three times this week and feel much more like more normal self, now I'm ready to get back to cardio.

Partly, I just wasn't ready to work out sooner than this, it was a very bad cold, and I have made a full recovery through taking the 2 complete weeks off, and partly, I knew the point had been reached where excuses to not work out were about to be made, so I kicked myself in the pants. This is the mental process that worked for me.

Significant depreciation of fitness levels begins after 2 weeks off. So you are still in the "can bounce back to form within one week" time frame. So if you don't feel like it yet, don't sweat it mentally. Take another few days off and then kick yourself in the pants! Or come back here and beg, and we'll do it for ya!@!!!

As long as your over being sick, I'd pick a workout that has the highest possible "fun factor" to it. That usually helps me get back into workout mode.

Check in the Ask Cathe Forum. Someone asked about having no energy to work out and Cathe gave a very enlightening reply about how long it can take to recover and what steps to take on the road back. It is helpful and gets rid of the guilt. You just aren't up to it yet.

I hope you feel better soon. I have been dizzy and have had a terrible stomach ache off and on for a few weeks too. I have been workout out to the best of my ability. I only do what I can do, missing lots of cardio lately. You take care of yourself,

Clarissa

Thank You for all your support. After I unloaded about it, I actually did PLB tonight alone, I normally combo it with PUB. Tomorrow night is Simply Interval then back to Cathe with 4DS.

Hi,

We should start a club honey.

Only I think my symptoms are chronic because I've been in a funk for months. I'm thinking about sticking my finger in a light socket...to snap me out of this....(haha - I mean that in a purely jovial way of course).

:)

I am so sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well!!! I'm so glad to hear that it's not just me though! I have been sick since Christmas and I'm getting "sick" of it. I have some weird cold that just keeps morphing and changing. Everytime I think I am over it, it starts right back up again. I've been doing a lot of yoga but even that bothers me cuz' the breathing really dries my already sore throat out. It seems like a number of us are having a heck of a time kicking this. :(

Sometimes the best workouts are done "when you don't want to." (As long as you're physically feeling better of course)

I had to force myself to do a Premix from Body Max2, then ended up doing the whole 90 minutes because it was like I was making a bet with myself }(

And I'm going to remind myself of this pep talk tonight when I get home and don't feel like working out!!
