Happy Easter, cheetahs! :)

I'm up way early again...thought I'd share a post-Iron Yoga update...The DOMS is mostly gone - although my left quad is still a little tender. No DOMS whatsoever in the upper body. The most challenging part of IY for the upper body was just holding the dumbbells straight out (like during Triangle).

I was one of last to post, so there aren't many personals to catch up with, except:

Susan :: WTG on a 2.5 mile run! How do you feel today? No pain, I hope!

Hope everyone celebrating (I think all of us do, but I'm not positive) has a wonderful Easter with your families!

BBL! Oh, and today is L&B for sure and possibly some cardio.
~Cathy :)

PS...That post title is a total lie (for me, anyway)...I plan to have a chocolate bunny. A small one. :) But I figured the rest of you are WAY more disciplined than me! *ha* :)

Hi, Cathy. Happy Easter to you and all the Cheetahs out there!

NO CHOCOLATE for me today. It doesn't tempt me all that much. What I will need control on is the Carrot Cake I made. lol It's a healthier version that what I normally make and the frosting isn't the typical cream cheese (and butter) frosting I usually make. But the sample finger licks we took yesterday are proving that it's yummy! LOL

What's on the menu today? I've got a ham and a huge turkey breast, all the sides with the addition of baked sweet potatoes for me and mom. Then, of course, the cake! LOL

Cathy....I loved your review of IR. I'll have to add that to my wish list!

I am happy I got that long run in yesterday, so this morning I was able to get up and enjoy Rodney in his tights for Power Yoga Total Body. I gotta tell ya. I love the feeling when I'm all done with it. All streteched out, relaxed, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

OK....kids are slowly waking up. Time to present the EASTER BASKETS!

HAPPY EASTER!!!!!

Gayle

Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning, Cheetahs! Happy Easter to all who celebrate and a blessed Sunday to everyone! I’m dreaming of a white Easter! It snowed in Central Texas all day yesterday! The beautiful bluebonnets were wearing big white hats. I wish I had my camera with me yesterday while I was out playing in the snow because it is already melting. That is Texas for you. If you do not like the weather here, just wait 5 minutes! It does not usually snow in Central Texas. We get ice storms, hailstorms, and tornados, but not snow. I was delighted to see snow yesterday. It was the highlight of my day.

I was missing in action last week. I stepped away from the computer for a week to focus on prayer and preparation for a Good Friday outreach. It was an amazing experience. I will never be the same. You can read about my experience in this thread if you are interested:

http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=9&topic_id=48200&mesg_id=48200&page=#48247

Now that my Good Friday mission project has been accomplished, it is time to start officially training for the Cathe Road Trip! My game plan involves a 16-week fat blasting rotation that will get me through the end of July. I know myself well enough to know that I will be too excited to focus on anything other than shopping for new clothes and shoes when August arrives! I am planning to focus on 2 weeks of workouts at a time. This is my general game plan:

Sunday morning - step or interval step + abs/core (Cathe)
Monday morning - cardio plus lower body or lower body circuit (Cathe)
Tuesday morning - cardio plus upper body or upper body circuit (Cathe)
Wednesday morning - kickboxing (Cathe)
Thursday morning - total body circuit (Cathe)
Friday morning - stretching (Cathe)
Saturday morning - hi-lo (Kari or Christi) plus functional fitness (Jen or Tracie)
evenings - jogging in the pool or rebounding as desired

I was hoping to start this last Sunday, but my body was too tired to move after a week of sleepless nights during my recovery week. I did bless my body with more sleep last week and starting feeling alert and oriented again. I got my Cathe fix with Low Impact Step and Total Body Stretching, and I started running in the pool at the club again. I also did a few sessions of rebounding, but it was another active recovery week other than that. I decided to get back on track with my sleep schedule instead of going through the motions of my workouts. I am glad I did because I am ready to enjoy Rhythmic Step before church this morning. Oh, I dropped the 4 pounds I gained the previous week. I am officially 50 pounds below my top weight and 80 pounds above my goal weight. My before pictures are in my photo album, and Cathe is waiting for me!

My game plan for eating involves planning menus a week in advance and packing my meals and snacks every night for the next day. I see consistent results when I do this. I decided to enjoy one treat meal or snack every week. Of course, all my efforts to enjoy a treat yesterday were completely frustrated. I think God was trying to tell me something. See this thread if you want a good laugh:

http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=9&topic_id=48307&mesg_id=48307&page=

By the way, I love would to meet y’all for dinner on Thursday night before the Road Trip. My plane is schedule to arrive shortly after noon. Kathy G from the Ya Yas is planning to arrive early to spend some time with me. Since she is a Cheetah too, I am sure y’all would love to meet her too.

Blessings,
Heather B.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1 NIV).

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Hi, Heather. You sound peaceful today. Really you do! Your 16 week plan sounds great! I remember the nerves during the last 2 weeks leading up to the road trip in 2005. Know what I did to calm my nerves? Nothing. lol I didn't workout and I ate everything that was wrong for my body. lol NOT A GOOD THING! I promised myself this will not happen this time around. I'll relax and maybe shop, like you! lol

As for the RT, I may be coming in Thursday night as well, but that all depends on what plans I am able to make for my boys. It all focuses on around them at this point.

Happy Easter. Enjoy your workout!

Gayle

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...that Yoga workout sound very interesting, I will have to check it out. I hear you about the jeans...Levi made these great ones years ago and when they were discontinued I have had trouble ever since. I look for relaxed fit as those normally fit well. And as for bras...I could buy those in the training bra section!!...:)..No choc bunnies for me...but there is this bag of dark choc M&M's....

Heather....you had one awesome week before good friday. Sounds like a good RT workout schedule. How fun we will get to meet Thurs! I think Kathy G used to post here before her knee surgery! I hope you have a Blessed Easter...:)

Marcia...any luck with your own rotation?

Shelly...I hope your long hilly run goes great today! I am going to tackle 7 miles. A diamondback?....wow! I think that would have got me to pick up MY pace abit!!

Wendy...sounds like s good run with your friend. I would be so lost without my garmin!

Susan..so glad your back is doing better. I am not doing much step still, just to be safe. I did the power circuit segments from BM2 last week with no ill affects. Using the EXT seems goos for now! My piriformis is feeling better. That is GREAT you will also come in Thurs!!...it'll be so darn fun...:)

Gayle...good job on the 13 miles! Enjoy that carrot cake (it is the only kind of cake I like!)Not sure what is on my menu for today.

Jackie...yes, the running is still feeling good and it is way hard not to jump into more miles...I did a couple of runs last winter in 28 degrees...BBBRRRRR, good job on the 8 in 25 degrees! I bet you will do great in the 5K next Sat.

I am doing a 7 mile run and then the iStretch I downloaded last week. My DH and I will have a quiet Easter at home. We went to my Pastors for dinner with friends last night ( we both have the same type of dog and wanted them to meet)...You won't believe this but our dogs are true sisters! The same Mom and Dad and the same birthdate!! We checked the papers. They have similarities but my Sadie has smooth hair and their Chloe has the long Yorkie hair. They are half Yorkie and half Jack Russell...

Have a great day...

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning and Happy Easter to all the cheetahs. It looks like a slow and relaxing day so far! I will celebrate by working tonight :( Ah well, at least it is just for tonight and then I have another
stretch off. I was feeling restless again yesterday afternoon and added the B&G overall legs premix. You'd think my legs would be screaming at me this morning after that and my 13 mile hilly trail run, but I'm actually feeling pretty good. Just a little blah and not feeling very motivated... pretty unusual for me!

Cathy- I love your title!! There aren't any chocolate bunnies around my home but I'm sure there will be all sorts of temptations at work! Sounds like you're having a great spring break so far.

Gayle- A yoga day would be perfect after that strenuous run you did yesterday! Your dinner sounds delicious :9 I'm with you, I'd be more tempted by carrot cake then a chocolate bunny anyday.

Heather- I was pretty amazed when I heard on the news about snow in Texas in April!! I'm sure it was quite a treat for you. Your 16 week plan for the RT preparation sounds awesome! I don't think I could ever be that disciplined!

Carole- What an interesting story about your pastor's dog and yours being sisters! What are the odds of that? A yorkie/jack russell mix sounds adorable! My long 13 mile run was yesterday and it went surprisingly well, I was expecting it to be much tougher. Hope your run today is an enjoyable, pain free one!

For today, when I'm done here it'll be a relaxing easy paced 4 mile run to the mailboxes and back. Then it'll be BBC chest and Abs.
Then a relaxing Easter nap!

Take care y'all

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Happy Easter celebrating Cheetahs!:)

I just finished my work out. I (finally) got brave enough to try out CF. I did it through the power circuits. It took me about 45 mins from w/u to stretch and then I did ARX.

I'm off to be a nice wife and make DH pancakes for breakfast. The holiday must be getting me!:p :7

We are going to my mom's for an early Easter dinner and then up to my SIL's for coffee and dessert with DH's family. Should be a nice day.

Later Chicas!:D

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning ladies,
Happy Easter. I was up at 4am hiding easter eggs in the yard and baskets. My girls are so excited that the bunny came to their house. I am NOT eating any rabbits today. I have eaten enough this past week}( My sister and her family left early this morning and now we are just trying to clean and get the house back together.

My back feels good this morning after my run and elliptical yesterday. I have a tiny bit of glute tightness but the foam roller got rid of most of that. I am going to do Butts and Gutts leg blaster premix and then later today my new Kelli Roberts pilates dvd.

I gained 2-3lbs thanks to all the clam chowder bread bowls, but that is okay, because I know it will be gone by Friday.

CAthy, Iron yoga sounds like it worked you pretty good. Enjoy your tiny bunny today and I know you were not talking about me when you said that some cheetahs were more disciplined;-)

Gayle, I like Rodney Yee. I have quite of few of his. He is much more relaxing than some of my power yoga ones. That would be great if you came in on Thursday for the RT.

Heather, you are definitley one motivated cheetah. You workouts look great and very balanced. That is great that you are only 80lbs away from you goal weight. You have worked SO hard.

CArole, that is too funny about your dog and the pastors being sisters. I am so excited about the RT too. I am so focused right now on making sure that I am injury free for the trip. Enjoy your 7 miler and you are SO smart the way you are letting your body heal and listening to it and not pushing it.

Shelly, what a great workout you had yesterday. How do you keep your body fueled with all of those hardcore workouts. Do you eat a lot of carbs and protein all day? I would be starving all day. I am a total pig though;-) Have a good run and a nice long nap.

Wendy, CF is a good one to do on Easter. It burns a lot of calories. Have a nice time with your family today.

Well ladies, I am off to do some laundry and have some blueberries and cashews before my workout.

Have a great day!

Susan

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Hey, cheetahs :)

Just finished L&B + ARX and do not have time for cardio. Gotta get showered up for Easter dinner with the fam.

Gayle :: *lol* about Rodney in his tights…I have a serious hankering for carrot cake now. But I’ll get my fix later on…my mom bought a Carvel ice cream cake – my fave! Hope the kids enjoyed their baskets.

Heather :: too funny that you got some snow out there in Texas!…Looks like a good program you’ve got lined up there. Congrats on the 4 lbs.!

Carole :: love the Easter eggs :)…I found replacement jeans, but of course, they are expensive ones. Lucky brand (folks here have raved about ‘em on the OF) – they were $95 (!!! I have never spent that much on a pair of jeans!) but they fit GREAT!!…that is so wild about your dogs!…Enjoy your quiet Easter.

Shelly :: oh yeah, I am thoroughly enjoying my break! And I’m actually glad I didn’t plan any getaways or fill up my calendar with social events…I wanted some quiet time to hibernate and do a little work, and it’s the perfect fit right now! Hope you enjoyed your nap.

Wendy :: I don’t think I’ve done CF, either. I can’t remember. How was it? Enjoy your time with the fam. BTW, how about Sunday the 29th?

Susan :: so glad to hear your back is fine…let us know how the Pilates DVD is. I like Keli but I only have her 10 Min. Solutions KB.

Well, I did only eat one, teeny-tiny Lindt bunny…BUT then I scarfed four peeps. They’re loaded with sugar, but they’re only 160 calories for 5 and there’s no fat. So I could’ve done worse. (And I will. Bring on the ice cream cake!) *lol*

Happy Easter, cheetahs! :)

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Hi Easter Cheetahs :)

I hope you are having a very relaxed day. This Cheetah has not had any chocolate this weekend, for a change. ( I usually have a few kisses per day) Last eveing we had our family dinner with grandparents. MIL made Backlava (her specialty) and we all had some.

My oldest DD ( age 21) did Butts and Guts with me. My DH called it Blood and Guts, and our DD was making not very nice comments to Cathe and crew. she stuck it our with me until the end though.

Today is a rest day. I might get in some stretching later.

~~Carole~~ I have been thinking about trying freestyle again to get my lower body stronger but lean for running injury free. Chi running is helping, but I am having trouble maintaining the (recommended) strides per minute so far.

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Happy Easter everyone!!

Cathy - ITA on not being able to find products that you love. They should just ask us if we want them to discontinue. LOL!! Hope you find some good replacements. Glad to hear Iron Yoga gave you some lovely DOMS.

Shelly - Running up on a rattler is not a good feeling. That would take some of the fun out of running. Glad you made it through the run. Sorry the sale was over for the CT. Have a good night at work.

Gayle - That carrot cake sounds yummy! Hmmm, Rodney in his tights - never gave that much thought because I'm too busy looking at him shirtless.

Heather - Glad you had such a fulfilling experience for Good Friday! Your plans look good. You're doing a great job with the weigh loss.

Carole - How nice that your dogs are sisters. My brother has a Jack Russell. He's a fiesty little thing and they call him Terminator.

Wendy - Hope you enjoyed your family today.

Susan - Glad the back continues to feel good. How was the pilates workout?

Judy - Enjoy your rest day.

Rest day for me. After church, came home and made dinner. Then, I went to visit with my mom and sis for awhile. Now, I'm just relaxing and enjoying the rest of my afternoon.

Hope you all had a nice Easter Sunday!

Jackie

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Shelly...It was quite interesting about our dogs! I don't know if I told you but my Pastor is a triathlete, and very cool. I used to run with him a few years ago and he kicked my YKW! He wants me to do a tri. The run went good and my DH even met me on his bike! I really like the abs in the BBC C&A workout. I hope work goes well for you tonight.

Wendy...Good job with CF. How sweet you made pancakes for your DH, I made mine some cookies. Enjoy your Easter with the family.

Susan...such good news about your back. I am really liking the foam roller. The 7 miles went well, and I am also hoping to be pain free by the RT!

Cathy...I am way to cheap to spend $95 on a pair of jeans. I didn't have luck with Lucky's (even on sale!). I hope you have a great Easter with the family.

Judy..freestyle seems to be helping me gain some strength with running and it does not seem to aggravate my piriformis, which is good news.

Jackie...Sadie is fairly feisty for all of her 9 lbs!! Enjoy your rest day and have a great Easter.

I had a good run and did most of the iStretch, she does hold some of the poses a bit long for my taste...

Thought I would share a pic of Sadie playing with the football...:)

Hello, Cheetahs!! What a crazy Easter weekend for us!! Kiersten took a turn for the worse, poor little thing. It turns out she is ALLERGIC TO HER MEDICINE! Yes, another medicine to be allergic to! She's already allergic to Amoxicillin & Zithromax, now add Sulfa to the list (should have figured, I'm allergic to it too!). Anyway, I didn't realize it was a Sulfa drug. Since we saw an on-call Dr. Thurs night at Convenient Care he prescribed something other than her usual antibiotic. I told him that Cefzil or Omnicef are the ones that usually work for her but of course I guess I don't know anything!!! Anyway, it was scary, she threw up all day y'day (should have figured something was up, but she has a tender tummy anyway). Then this morning after her dose she said her heart hurt to breathe (poor baby), and it was racing so bad I almost took her to the ER!! Then she threw up again & once the meds were out she was feeling better. So after a call to the pharmacy they said to give her Benadryl to help w/ the reaction. W/in about half an hour she was feeling better. Well, still sick w/ the ear infection but at least not throwing up!!! So.... it was kind of a crazy weekend, we had to cancel all of our plans & mainly just hung out at my Mom's house! Didn't even make it to church this morning. Oh well, as most of you know we're very faithful church attenders. ;-)

We made it home & unloaded everything (we also had 2 beds from my Grandma's house, the antique sewing machine, dresser, etc). Thank God for Cathe, my dh kept calling me *muscles*. :p We did lots of loading/ unloading stuff for my Mom too.

I hope you all had a nice Easter. Since we had to cancel our Easter dinner plans, we ended up going to the HyVee deli & picking out something to eat at my Mom's. And I didn't have ONE piece of Easter candy, I'm back on the South Beach phase 1/2 so I'm on NO white carb/ sugars. I'm feeling better & am already down 4 lbs since Monday!! :)

My X isn't here yet, I'm hoping early this week!! My friend lives in Canada so I'm sure it will take longer shipping. Have a great night! I'm getting more & more excited about trying it out after hearing so many great successes here!!

Hi All –

Happy Easter to all of you beautiful ladies!! Figured I’d crawl out of the hole of non-communication I’ve buried myself in lately, and writing to my favorite Cheetahs! We went for a hike to Limekiln yesterday were we used to hike with the dogs (Carole – you’ve been there), and took the flowers from Tucker’s memorial and put them in the stream where the dogs loved to play. We didn’t even have Kimo as she’s on medication and cannot handle strenuous exercise. So weird to be with DH only. Today I did Spinervals Sweating Buckets (thanks Gayle!) and Power Hour (except for the second set of lunges – my legs were fried!). I’ve got a ham in the oven and I’m about to go start potatoes for mashed potatoes. Simple tonight, actually – ham, mashed potatoes and green beans. I have a nice angel food cake with strawberries for dessert

Cathy – love the thread title! So funny! And the other check-in’s who took off on it had me giggling. That Iron Yoga sounds very interesting. I may have to invest in that one. I’ve been indulging a bit, too, so no worries… :p

Gayle – I know – nothing like a good yoga tape to feel all stretched out. Way to go on your insane run on the treadmill. :+ I bow down before you, oh Queen Cheetah of the Treadmill.

Heather – sounds like you had an incredible week. How amazing. I like your new workouts and your eating plan!

Carole – the Goddess of Graphics! Love your Easter Graphics! I downloaded the iClimb and ab workout on Friday and still have not done it. I’m thinking tomorrow. How was the iStretch? I SOOO love the story of your Sadie and her sister! How FUN!! And what a sweet photo! Aren’t dogs the best?

Shelly – You are simply made of steel. If I did your workouts, I’d be whimpering on the floor and would have to drag myself through the house on my hands and knees! Happy Easter and hope work tonight is just the way you like it.

Wendy – such a nice wife! Hope DH appreciated it – I’m sure he did! Enjoy your day!

Susan – so happy to hear your back feels good after your run! Sounds like you have a nice Easter planned. Glad you had a great time with your sister!!

Judy – I’m impressed with your will power! No chocolate? Oh man. So cool to hear about your DD doing B&G with you! Good for her for sticking it out – that’s a toughie!! I think your DH is on to something!

Jackie – Have fun with your relaxing Easter! Sounds like a wonderful time.

Jess – so sorry to hear about Kiersten! How horrible to be allergic to her medicine! I hope she’s feeling better soon! I’m thinking of y’all!

Well, time to get peeling taters. Happy Easter all! Now that the newspaper article is over and everything seems to be heading back to normal I’m hoping to be in a better frame of mind. I have to be soon or I’ll be too fat to fit into any of my clothes! I definitely use food for comfort!
