Nitpicky Question for Vegans

Ha-Ha!

Actually only the one cat is too big. My oldest cat has always been thin/petite, at 7 lbs, and the big boy is just right at 9 pounds. It's just the middle girl who weighs in at a zaftig 9 lbs (for her frame).

I feed the older girl Iams senior and the two youngsters Iams weight control once a day with a small taste of wet food at the end of the day. They're certainly not overfed, but no matter what I do, the big girl is slow to shed the weight.

I've had the oldest since she was four weeks old and have had the most control/influence over her diet; the other two are rescues. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks so much for that link. My mother feeds Iams, but I know she'll stop when she reads this stuff. My five dogs eat Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, which is made by Diamond Pet Foods and I see that they are not on the list of manufacturers approved by PETA. Do you think that list is exhaustive? I have emailed the Chicken Soup people. We'll see if they reply.

Hi, Ann. I don't think that the PETA list is exhaustive. It does list primarily "natural foods" brands, and for those brands, the animals may be more humanely raised.
