This is an awesome website...I am in the market for a new workout. There are sooo many to choose from and a I need help from some experts out there. I am 38 years old and am a moderate exerciser. I work out at home to Power 90, a treadmill, free weights & machine. I am getting bored and need a great OVERALL body workout. I tend to focus on my legs and butt a lot as I feel that is my flabbiest areas. I would like your opinion on the best lower body workout and then an OVERALL great body workout as I need work on my arms and shoulders. I don't need to lose weight but really want to tone up and gain some muscle. Any input would be appreciated!

If you want an endurance workout I recommend ME, the upper body split in the ctx dvd and power hour .All three are fantastic. If you want gain muscle I think you need a strenght workout. For strenght workout I recommend to you the pure strenght series dvd, the leg exercises are great, and you say the legs and butt are your flabbiest areas. For this areas you have leg and glutes in the second dvd of the body blast series.I love the pyramids too but you need to have lot of diferents weights to use in these workouts. In the pyramids lowe body you have a great legs and butt exercises using the stability ball. These exercises are very difficult to do because you have to do the exercise trying to mantain the ball stable but makes my butt be on fire. There are lot of good options to choose.Hope this help.

I think you should consider the Intensity series. You will get some great cardio workouts and Pymarid Lower Body. PLB rocks!! You can adjust your weights as you get stronger. And you don't need a barbell. Dumbells work just fine.

Or maybe consider the Kick,Punch and Crunch/Legs and Glutes DVD.

WARNING: Once you start with Cathe's workouts, hide your credit cards!! You will never be able to get enough!!:D :D

Hi and welcome!

For total body I'd recommend....Power Hour or Muscle Endurance. Max. Int. Strength is good too but a bit more dated.

Other great ones are the Pyramid dvd which splits lower and upper but has a premix that combines upper and lower into a great total body workout. The Pure Strength series is great...has a great lower body workout and 2 great upper body workouts that some people do both on the same day.

Additional great leg workouts are Leaner Legs and Legs&Glutes and if you get that one on dvd there are alot of great premixes of that workout alone and combined with kickboxing.

If you wanted to add some add'l cardio...BootCamp is great!

Have fun!!

I say go with these from the Intensity Series:

For Total Body-
Muscle Endurance-I got great strength gains from this when I first started Cathe. The glute raises and the leg presses have done wonders for my rear end which is pretty flat. I think this is the best one hour total body workout that I own.

If you have more time go with:
Pyramid Upper Body- My arms and shoulders always feel like jelly the next day - it also has great ab work(tough but great!}( )
and
Pyramid Lower Body - If your butt and thighs need a workout - here you go! I think the time just flies by when I do this workout.

For Lower Body-
Legs and Glutes (not intensity series)- I think this is the best workout overall for your legs and rear - I ALWAYS feel this one the next day}( I think this one is a must have if you really want to work these areas-Heck, eventually you'll find out that all Cathe's workouts are must-haves.;-)

Also, go for the DVD's as the premixes are awesome and you can pick and choose different workouts for specific needs.

Good luck and hope this helps, Wendy

Hi JillyD,

Welcome to Cathe! Glad you're here. I highly recommend the S&H series, but maybe not as your first purchase. Somewhere along the line you should try them. Awesome!

Ruth:)

OVERALL-Muscle Endurance

LOWER BODY-Legs and Glutes

HONORABLE MENTION-Pyramid DVD - as it can be upper body one day, lower body the next, or use the combo for a full body workout.
