newbie, knees and stepping

hello!

i'm new.. getting ready to order as soon as i figure out what i want! i notie several of the workouts use the high step (legs and glutes, boot camp) i'm worried about my knees and i'm wondering if even for those (like leg presses in legs and glutes) is it OK and will i get an effective workout if i just use the top part of the step? or is it not as hard on my knees as i'm thinking?

also.. can i just buy one large step and use it for all the vids? or do i need to buy the small high one AND a regular size one?

thanx to cathe and anyone else who has answers!

Hi desertbriez! I always tell people to lower the step height if they are feeling any unusual discomfort in their knees. It is still effective even at a lower height. Or if you want to try it at a higher height, then try just 3 or 4 risers instead of the 5 risers that I am using many times under my High Step.

If you are only interested in buying workouts that use the High Step, then I suggest purchasing a High Step. If you are considering buying workouts that use the step for step aerobics and/or a weight training prop (ie: a bench press), then I would say get a regular sized step (since you mention wanting to lower the height of your step anyway). You can always purchase a High Step down the road if you decide to. Good Luck!
