New to Cathe

Cathlete
Hi there. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Deni and I'm new to Cathe. I discovered her by hearing a lot of praise about her workouts on the beachbody boards. I'm currently in my second round of P90X. I've been doing a lot of the beachbody stuff the last year or so and have had amazing results with their programs. But I'm constantly looking for other things to excite and motivate me. And there were quite a few people touting this Cathe Friedrich person, so of course it encouraged me to check her out. Well I'm certainly glad I did as the DVD's here seem unbelievable!!

I started out purchasing Kickmax and coremax. I've done kickmax thus far and I have to say it's a doozy!! Loved it!! I've only done the first workout on the coremax video. I've done it twice now and my abs were still hurting from the first time when I went to do it the second time two days later  . Good stuff!!

Since then I've ordered entirely too many more videos...you could go broke here...heehee!! I've purchased many in the hardcore series (all but stretch max, high step challenge...I think that's in there, and low max), the body blast series, and the intensity series. Hopefully my husband doesn't check our checkbook anytime soon ;) . And I have a longer list now of the videos I still want to purchase!!

Now for some advice from you pros...I'm most definately into the weightlifting thing, but I think I have enough right now to get myself acquaintd with Cathe's style. My specific area's of concern are my legs. I have somewhat of the opposite problem of many here...I suffer from severe chicken leg syndrome :D . I have the skinniest legs ever. Of Cathe's DVD's, what are the best programs to work on bulking them up? I'm hoping you guys will tell me that they will be suggestions from rotations I have already purchased, but with my luck it will be workout's that I skipped over for now.

Thanks guys for any insight you may have for me. I look forward to "meeting" you and getting to know each and every one of you!!

Cathe is a great compliment to P90X workouts (or vice versa). I sure know how you can go broke...:)...I do have most all of Cathe! For you maybe look at the Slow & Heavy series, and the Pure Strength series as those could add some bulk to your legs...:)...Carole

Carole...trust me you don't want these chicken legs...what I'd give for some meat on dem bones!! My nickname in school was skinny Deni...and trust me when I tell you they weren't being kind when they said it.

The funny thing is after I gave birth to my second son (I have two boys 13 months apart...yowza) I had actually gained a lot of weight, and had put some weight on in my legs which I was pretty excited about. But I unfortunately put a lot on in my waist and chest too (I got up to a 39 inch waist and almost a size E cup...WOW) so I started the whole weight loss thing. And of course the first place I lost it was...you guessed it MY LEGS!! I was bummed. So while I'm delighted to say I've lost 9 inches in my waist and am now a saggy size B cup, I've also lost precious inches in my thighs and calves, inches that were very special to me...heehee. So now I'm trying to make up for years and years of inactivity and bulk up a little with some muscle mass.

I have S & H on the list for ones I want to get, along with Pure Strength. Thanks for the tips!!

Hi Deni! Welcome to Cathe.com!

I know you'll get some good workouts with her. I just did Powerhour yesterday, followed by 400 lunges (about half with 8lb dumbells)and I am feeling it. Gotta love it! While my legs have never been "fat", they have never been "skinny" either. I bet over half the women here had to do a double-take when they read about your concern. So, I'm hoping you can get some good tips.

I'm inclined to think that maybe you'll have to look into a bench with some sort of squat rack to lift the heavier weights for more muscle developement, (look for sales). Or, train legs at the gym. Cathe tends to do a lot of reps & low-ends with "lighter" weights since her target audience may not be able to heave the heavier poundage over the head needed for lower leg workouts. This may be more conducive to leaning out, but that's just my theory. (When I say lighter, I am am using this in context. By no means think that Cathe provides a "light workout")

Anyhoo, welcome!

Anne you are more than welcome to my chicken legs :) !! I know it probably sounds weird to be complaining about skinny legs...but it's forever been my self esteem downer. Sometimes it can be just as rough dealing with the other end of the sprectrum in regards to body type.

I'm looking forward to trying out all of my new workouts and will report back if I see any significant progress!!

Marla - I appreciate your advice!! I let our gym membership lapse so I'm going to strive to find ways to achieve my goals through home workouts. I'm not new to the whole weight lifting thing, and I'm most certainly not scared of some hard core workouts so I'm excited to have found Cathe as she seems to be just what I'm looking for!! I think I'm going to invest in one more DVD - S & H and see if that can bring on some muscle mass in my lower body. I by no means want to look like a body builder, I just want to give my legs some much needed definition and substance (especially in my calves).

Thanks for all of the advice ladies, it is much appreciated!! I can tell everyone here is going to be a great source of knowledge, advice, and support!!
