New to Cathe

Hi Everyone!
I am new to Cathe workout videos! I found out about Cathe when I was trying to find a challenging aerobics video on the internet. Since January, I have been trying to get back in shape after 3 years of law school, which really took it's toll on my health. I would like to lose about 20 pounds to be in the "low risk" BMI category. In January, I started doing Tae Bo about 4-5 mornings per week, but by late March, I realized it was not really working. I was somewhat stronger and more fit, but I was looking for faster progression. I think the weight training in Cathe's videos have helped me the most by increasing my body's ability to burn fat during the rest of my mostly sedentary day (studying for the bar exam now). I just thought I would share my satisfaction with Cathe's programs with the rest of her "educated crowd!"

Cruncholi,

I agree wholeheartedly!

Cathe is a phenomenon, no less. No one can touch her. Her programs are so advanced and yet accessible to anyone who is willing to work hard.

Good luck with the bar exam!!

Welcome from me also to the Cathe World! Glad to hear you are already seeing the benefit of working out with Cathe. Bobbi said it just right, I agree whole-heartedly.

Let us know how you get on!

Ruth & Bobbi,
Thank you for your enthusiastic responses! This morning I did MIS for the first time. Those dead lifts are killer on the hamstrings--an area where I need a lot of work. Hopefully I will be able to walk tomorrow! Do either of you have any suggestions for the best Cathe video for getting rid of a tummy? My sister tells me to do "cardio, cardio, cardio" for losing the fat around the gut (and anywhere for that matter), but other suggestions would be very welcome. Thank you!

Hi Cruncholi! Welcome to the forum. How nice to meet you. Whew, I have had friends who have undergone the physical and mental anquish that comes with studying for the bar exam. That's wonderful that you are making time to workout to help combat some of that stress. Good luck with everything keep in touch. Take Care :)!

Hi Again! Doing both weight training and cardio is the better way to go. This way you will increase your lean muscle mass which will keep you burning more overall calories, tone up muscles, and promote continuous fat loss. Keep up the good work!

Hi Cruncholi,

Just wanted to mention my sister-in-law is an attorney in Florida & she had completed her bar exam about a year ago, so I know the kind of stress you've been under. Congratulations!!!

I wouldn't even consider trying to add to Cathe's advice on the abs! (I don't know anything better anyway - although just wanted to mention pilates-type work, which I gather is in the new videos.)

Take care,
Ruth

Exercise as a Stress Reliever

Hi again,
Ruth, I give your sister-in-law all the credit in the world! I wish I were in her shoes now with the exam behind me instead of ahead of me. I can't wait until July 26th when the bar exams are over with! Actually, since I'm taking the NJ bar on the 26th, I am trying to recruit my sister to visit Cathe's studio with me the following day--I'm sure that would be a great stress reliever after 3 days of testing! Working out has been a very effective outlet for nervous energy while studying--I highly recommend it to anyone who is stressed :)
Bye!
Cruncholi

P.S. I was able to walk today after MIS yesterday, but not very well--I wimped out this morning and did a Kathy Ireland low-impact aerobics video. I guess it's better than nothing!

RE: Exercise as a Stress Reliever

Of course it is! Any movement is good! Nobody feels like a killer workout every day. Oooh what a great idea, to visit Cathe's studio! TELL US EVERYTHING!!!

Oh, & by the way, I give my sis in law a lot of credit too - she passed her bar while getting married & having her second baby right after! What a gal!!

Good luck with your bars, I know you'll do great!

Ruth
