Hey gals!

Just ordered Cathe's Cardio Hits DVD as my first Cathe video ever! I do not own a regular step yet. I have asked for one for Christmas so I can't run out and buy it until I see if I get it! I know that I will want to try Cathe out as soon as I get the dvd though...so my question is...do you think I can try her out using one section of the Firm Fanny Lifter until I get a regular step? (Yes I'm a "Firmie" looking for a change! lol)

Thanks in advance, ladies!
:)

Hi Wendy!! I don't own a Fanny Lifter but I think I've seen them. I don't think you could use a Fanny Lifter with the Cardio Hits but I know people use them in place of the High Step which are alot shorter. HTH:)

Hi Wendy,
I dont think you could use the FannyLifter for the reg Step. You can go to Walmart.com or go to the Walmart store and get the shorter version...I think with the smaller version you get a Cathe workout (all Step) which is a little much for beginnners, but i always say dont give up...keep at it...cause you WILL get it...I PROMISE YOU!. I know this is probable the longest run on sentence's you have even read :) Keep at it and YOU will get it! Best of luck, Nikki

If I were you, I would try the moves on the floor, without a step of any kind. The step Cathe uses, and most here would reccommend, is 40" long. If you had a rug about that length, that would give you an idea of how far you should be stepping. But trying the moves first on the floor would give you a start on some of the choreography. You could even put tape on the floor about the dimensions of a step for practice.

Then when you get your step (hope Santa is good to you!), you can more easily go right into the workout.

I agree...do them on the floor until you can get a step.

Here's an interesting thing...in my new Power Systems Fitness 2005 Catalogue, there is a new product called a Mat Step. Description: An impact-absorbing, ergonomically designed mat that provides a target area for doing cardio routines. Use in place of a step during a step aerobics class and be able to follow all the footwork and sequences. It also makes the routines less intense for those who have limited mobility or previous injuries. Dimension: 36"W x 17" Deep x 1/8" Thick. Wt. 3 lbs. Price is $29.95.

Now I'm not saying you need to purchase this...you don't! (Unless you want to, of course.) I just thought it was an appropriate thread to tell people about it. I'm thinking about getting one eventually, to practice intricate moves on.

ANYWAY...check Ebay. There's a full size step with a Cathe tape right now going for around $30.00.

Have fun,
Ruth:)

Hey ladies!

Thanks so much for the input!

I am thinking that starting on the floor is a great idea! I watched more of the choreography of the work outs online at home last night and actually spent a few minutes trying to follow her on the floor. She is going to be a challenge for me to follow, but I am determined!:D

I also think the tape (or some kind of marking) on the floor that is the size of a step is a great idea too...to give me a target for my feet...I could ace the choreography but if I am not used to having to place my foot in certain place I could still take a tumble! lol

By the way I am also pregnant (bad time to decide to start with Cathe, huh? lol) and my belly is growing by the day...if my balance gets really wacky I will need to take all routines to the floor for safety anyway.

Thanks again for the help! I'll check back after I get the dvd and let you all know how I'm doing with it!:)

Take Care.

Hi Wendy,

Had to come back to say congratulations! When are you due? Take good care of yourself during this time...as you noted, your center of gravity is off & getting worse by the day! LOL

Best wishes,
Ruth:) :)

Hey Ruth!

Thank you!!!

I am due on May 21, 2005!:D

After thinkin' about it...maybe now IS the BEST time to try Cathe...I have brought the intensity level of my work outs down a little since becoming PG so if I have to march in place or do a basic step move coz I'm completely lost with what Cathe is doing, it's probably a good time for it! If I wasn't pregnant and could exercise "no holds barred" I might get frustrated x( easier coz I would feel that I'm not getting a good work out amidst all of my confusion! LOL

We shall see...I should get my first DVD next week! :)

Ruth,

I know~I couldn't have planned it any better than to be due in May! (Unless ofcourse my due date was April...my mom and I are April babies only 3 days apart:)and it would have been sweet to add my baby in too.) All I knew is that I didn't want to be 7-9 months PG in the dead heat of summer and it ended up being just perfect timing!:)

Take Care!
