New, small apartment, no space

Hello, I have a small problem which I was hoping someone could help me out with. I have been living at home with my parents, where I currently have a big basement where I keep my treadmill, step, weights and all my fitness goodies, and where I work out to my videos. However, I will be moving into a very much small apartment with limited room. Needless to say, I have been spoiled to this point, but now I have to set up my work out space in a much small area, and Im not quite sure how to go about it. Im also concerned about making noise, since I do work oout at 5:30 a.m. Can someone in the same situation tell me how I can adjust and give me some advice? I would really appreciate it! I love to work out at home, and dont want to join a gym. Thanks so much for your support.. I love you all!

Can you "fold" your treadmill to store away, or does it have to stay in the same place? If it can't be moved, put it in whatever room you have a TV. You can do a treadmill workout in the early AM, and weights, too. Stepping is another matter, and may have to wait until later in the day, depending on how much noise the folks downstairs can hear. Maybe they are early risers, too. You can find that out.

I used to work out in a small living room, and did just fine. With the tapes that took more room, like Cardio Kicks, I just sashayed (spelling?) into the hallway and back into the living room. Tapes like Imax and Bodymax were no problem. IF THERE'S A WILL THERE'S A WAY, BABY!

I don't know if you've already found an apartment yet or not, but when I leased my apartment I specifically requested a lower floor unit. Good thing, because when the tenants above me walk around, it creates an enormous amount of noise. And that's just walking! I can't imagine how much people would complain if I was doing a Cathe video or running on my treadmill in an upstairs apt!!

And also, when I am doing Cathe's cardio videos (Cardio Kicks and 10-10-10), I sometimes just go side-to-side instead of going around in a huge square shape. I just add a little more "pep" into the moves and find I get a great workout.

What was difficult was working out without making my neighbors mad!! I'd definitely suggest getting a first floor apartment!!

Thanks!

Thank you ladies for making me feel so much better, at least now I know Im not alone! LOL....I guess I will have to work with what I have and improvise alittle...thanks a bunch, you guys are the best!

I imagine you will set up your gym in either the living or bed room. If it is the living room, forgo the cofee table. The bedroom, push the bed against the wall. Who care what the place looks like! Create your space! You can store your weights and step under the bed or the couch. They'll slide right out. I agree that where there is a will, there is a way. Maybe if there is a stair case in your apartment building you could run up and down them too. Good luck.Jeanne
