New Here & Kickbox Question

Hi all!

OK, long time lurker, first time member as of yesterday. :) I think this forum is fantastic and everyone is so encouraging--you guys are pushing this 38 year old to push herself, which is a good thing!!

So, with that said, right now I do Cathe's step and Boot Camp routines and would like to add kickboxing to the mix. I've done the Kathy Smith one a few times but I didn't gel with it like I have with Cathe DVDs! So I've acquired Cardio Kicks, 4DS Kickbox, and Kick Max. Where should I start with these, in order of ease and to learn kickboxing? I would appreciate any .02 cents you Cathe fans can spare!

Thanks!

Hi Boilergal,

I can't really help you in the order of which you should do them, but wanted to let you know NOT to forget kick, punch & crunch........it's AWESOME! It's on the same dvd with legs & glutes(which is also a very good workout). That was my first KB of Cathe's and I still do it. Lots of pre-mixes to play with.

A little off topic, does your username imply that you're a boiler maker fan? Just curious because my DH and I attend their football & basketball games.

Good luck with your new purchases. You will have a blast!

Sally

I think that Kick Max is the easiest, as far as learning some kick and punch combinations. The blast challenge on that DVD is high impact and a nice 15 min. burner. I always modified due to bad knees and still get a nice sweat. Kick Max is my least favorite out of all of Cathe's kickboxing workouts.

Kick, Punch, and Crunch is my favorite, certainly a must have to your kickbox collection. To me, it's the hardest of all of Cathe's kickboxing workouts.

The kickbox portion on the 4DS is decent and it's hard to follow. I like to pair it with the bootcamp cardio for extra sweat!

A nice mix is to pair the Kick Max kick and punch combos with the 4DS.

I don't have Cardio Kicks, so I can't comment on that one. :)

Ladies, thank you so much for the feedback...but it sounds like I need to place an order for Kick, Punch & Crunch!! :)

And Sally--Yes, I am a HUGE Purdue fan--I graduated in '92 and LOVE watching Boiler basketball & football. You're so lucky you get to go to the games! I live too far away to do that now, but I did make it to the Rose Bowl in 2001 to see them play Washington in football. :)

Kick, Punch, and Crunch is my favorite cardio workout AND it comes with Legs and Glutes, which is my 2nd favorite leg workout (behind only to Butts and Guts). There are some wonderful premixes on that DVD.

I'm from the Dallas area, too. Southlake. Good to see another Texas gal on the boards. :)

I think the premixes on kickmax are actually better than the workout. I did the cardio leg blast last week and felt it was pretty intense. That being said, yes KPC is by far the best and so many great premixes on it along with the Legs&Glutes.

Personally, I enjoy the 4DS kickbox and was actually doing it more than the KPC at one time. The music is great, it has just enough intensity to break a good sweat. Great for a day when you want a quick cardio but short on time, guess thats why Cathe made them huh?

And lastly, another Dallas native here, living in Plano now. Maybe we need to have a Texas GTG.

Annette

Just wanted to say welcome to you, Wendy, and yes, you definitely need to add KPC to your collection! }( It's a great one, and you really won't regret purchasing it at all!

P.S. In case you haven't noticed, everyone here is really good about helping everyone else spend more money on fun workouts!;-)

Hey Annette & Clothesminded!! I'm actually in Lewisville! We should totally do a Cathe GTG!:)

And to think I was done shopping for awhile when I pre-ordered STS...Foolish, foolish, me!!!

Hey, Wendy, Annette, & Clothesminded,
I'm in Austin -- I want to be part of a Texas GTG! BTW, I absolutely LOVE KPC!!!

OK, I have learned two things: I MUST buy Kick, Punch, and Crunch and I need to post over in Open Discussion a Dallas/Fort Worth Cathe GTG!!

Kristi--Love Austin!! And if we get one organized, come on up for it!!!

OK, Texas gals, I've posted a D/FW Cathe GTG post in Open Forum suggesting a brunch...it's down near the bottom of the page. You gals let me know if you are interested and then we'll look at dates.

I did preview a few minutes of Kick Max before getting my baby ready to take to grandma's so I could go to work...It looks like fun! Please tell me, though, will the endurance for shuffling come with time? That wears me out! I did 4DS Boot Camp cardio this morning (LOVE LOVE LOVE it!) but the boxers shuffles just about kill me...but in a pleasant way...HA! :)
