New goal for my new year...chin ups!

Fantastic Nancy - a real improvement. I'll be doing plenty of pull-ups / chin-ups when I start Beautiful Badass in a couple of weeks. My plan is to do as many as I can (ie not a lot) unassisted, and then finish the reps assisted. I've been experimenting with my new band (a continuous loop one) - obviously the greater the tension, the more it assists. So if I hook it over the widest bit of my pull-up bar, and put both feet in, there's more assistance than if I loop it over a narrow bit of bar and put my knees in. I'll play with that for a bit.
So, I'm going to work my way up to 12 unassisted............don't hold your breath!

I placed a pull up bar in my office a few years ago, but unlike ya'll I didn't use any common sense and decided I would do 200 a day, in sets of 8-12. Day 1 I got 180 in and was so beat up it was day LAST!! I did however do some most days and they became realitively easy as time went on. They are a great upper body exercise and worth the effort to perfect. I have slacked on these since completing sts last year and I am starting to do them again. I was glad to see Nanbo make them a challenge! I do them on back day and use an old soloflex machine for my pull up bar (blast from the past), But I max out 1/week at a facility with a neutral pull up bar and keep track of my progress. Good luck ladies!!!

180 in one day - Oh MY! And when do pull ups "become relatively easy as time went on". Push ups become easy, burpees, mountain climbers, but not Pull Ups! At least for me, I find it to be the hardest exercise.

Thanks for the encouragement, sir! Going to work on this.

That was about 8 years ago and maybe easy was a poor choice of words," doable" might have been better! They certainly are not as easy now and I weigh 20 lbs less! But,like the ladies, I am committed to get there again!! Mountain climbers and burpees??? Now those are painful!!

Justine, I loop my bands together in the middle of the bar and use the one foot method...I never thought about playing around with the tension (hmmmmm....appeals to the sceintist in me!)! That's brilliant!

I don't think there's a linear relationship between the extension and the tension, so experimenting is necessary. Have fun!
