Hi, Im new to Cathe, I have only one tape, powermax,
and I liked it so much i bought 2 dvds for a Christmas present to myself, rythmic step etc, and the circuit max one.
I cant wait til I can check them out!!!
I generally do 2 hours of cardio a day, 1 hour morning, 1 hour night. The past year, on 3 of the days I use cardio tapes with
strength training intervals. So its not like a full hour of weights, but I have seen some results doing this,
weight loss and some definition. What I wanted to know is how much cardio vs strength others do. I really would like to tone down my upper body ( I look a bit top heavy) and see more muscle definition. Should i do more strentgh training?
Any help/advice greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!

I don't know many people who do 2 hours of cardio a day (to me that seems overkill, but my body couldn't handle it) so the answers may not be helpful to you.

I do a little more cardio than strength. I do 3 or 4 cardio sessions a week - 2 or 3 of these are intense, like a tough video, run, or spinning class; and I take an easier kickboxing class. As for strength, I don't really have a rotation- I just fit it in when I can. I'll do some weight machines at the gym or a tape at home. I'll do PowerHour or Strength Express if I have time. Or I'll do a quickie video like Tamilee "I Want Those..." tape. Plus, there are weights used in circuit training videos.

If I would have to make a recommendation to you, I'd say you should substitute a full weight workout for 1 or 2 of your cardios a week. Then you're really focusing on your muscles. I don't want to say to cut back on cardio since I don't know your situation, but you may be doing too much. I've never heard of that much cardio being healthy. Just my opinion!

Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply!
Thats what I had been thinking. Maybe getting one of Cathes strength training videos and trying that out at least once a week. I was scared off from getting one because I dont own a barbell and I guess I am just addicted to aerobics. Better that than something else I suppose. I will check out her other videos
and thanks so much again for replying to me!!
