Never thought I'd be grateful to the Firm...

But since I've been down for a week with upper respiratory infection, and could no way handle a Cathe, I fell back on the Firm's newest offering (Transfirmer). I sweat a lot, and hope it helps drive out this bug in addition to antibiotics. And I have to confess, I do like working on the incline. It makes their rather lame cardio a lot more fun.

Anyone else get URIs to this extent? This is my third one; the first two I stupidly waited out, and felt bad for nearly two weeks. The wierdest part is the "spaced out" feeling. I still have it after being on amoxicillin since Weds.!

It'll be good to get back to "real" workouts with Cathe.:)

i have some of the old firms. i like them for periodzation and lighter days. i don't care much for the BSS but here transfirmer is worth it. but on the other hand i also read a lot of complaints about ordering from the firm so i will wait to see if they ever sell it stores and see what the price is before i consider. do you have the transfirmer step as well?is it a full size step or a studio size step(like in basic step)? if its a full size step then i might consider b/c even if i don't like the workouts i would still use the step.

I was grateful for the Firm for a year and a half and still am! I did thier work outs as faithfully as I now do Cathe! They helped get me to a point where I can actually handle Cathe! With out the Firm, I never would have been able to complete a Cathe work out! IMO the Firm is wonderful...it just happens to be a less intense work out for the beginner-intermediate range exerciser and is also great for the advanced in situations like yours or mine where we just aren't up to snuff for some reason! :)

I did part of max cardio burn this morning because I am having knee troubles so I wanted a lower impact/less intense work out....after doing Cathe and never tripping and falling, I actually tripped over the fanny lift and fell during the first step segment! :p LOL

Hi, Kassia!

Yes I have the Transfirmer (got a brand new one with the 3 main DVDs from Ebay). It's not as wide or deep as The Step that Cathe uses, but before I had the full size Step I used the 6 inch "Firm Box" and it worked all right.

Max Cardio Burn, isn't that the one with Tamela Hastie? Isn't it frustrating when you're having an "off" day and can't seem to manage your feet? And here you were just trying to save some stress on your knees!

Max Cardio Burn is actually led by Allie. :)

Yeah, trying to reduce knee stress gave me a nice lump and cut on my shin! LOL I was being Miss Big Shot and using the blue section of the fanny lifter for the step. I used it regularly when I did the firm all of the time but now with Cathe I only use one set of risers and that's not even something I do for every single step work out! I guess since the blue step is higher than what I use for Cathe, I wasn't used to it and hit the floor! :p

I use Cathe most of the time, but I tell ya on those days when I feel like a lighter day. The Firm is a nice change of pace. I did a Firm dvd last week, and I had doms from doing those slower leg press's.

I owe the Firm a lot!!! There was a time when their warm-up has me exhausted! Go into it with the right attitude and they can be very effective workouts! I still use some of mine!

I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER!!!!!!

>I owe the Firm a lot!!! There was a time when their warm-up

I know what you mean, Sarah! When I started with the Firm I was the same way! I had been doing Leslie Sansone and the Great Body Guaranteed toning series by Beach Body when I made my first Firm purchase. They kicked my butt!!! :)

I was cleaning out my TV cabinet yesterday and found the first 6 Firm tapes and they were in Beta format! They were $50 each and this was about 15 years ago! At the time I was so worried about them wearing out that I had a friend copy them for me, so I would not use the original. They had some type of copy protector on them but her Beta Max was able to do it. I still say that the first 6 Firm tapes were awesome for their time. I owe my interest in weight training to those tapes!

I use to do the Firm years ago while I was doing Cathe (1995). I hadn't gotten a firm workout for many many years it seems - but I did purchase the Transfirmer back in July - and I have to say it is an awesome workout - the WU seems slow - but when they use the 6" step I use the 8" step.

The incline is great, I was so sore after the first few workouts - I could hardly believe it. The step ups on the 14" are great too. There are a few sections that leave me almost breathless - using the 14" step oblong and doing the step ups with weights ( you know they call it the tall box climbs) They have really improved from years ago.

Of course, I love Cathe. She is the best. But it is nice to have the variety.

I have tossed around the idea of buying the new Firm stuff but I still have tons of Cathe to buy so I keep putting off the purchase until I am all caught up with my Cathe purchases! }(

I love my Cathes, of course, but the Firm is STILL an important part of my fitness routine!

Doing Volumes 1-3 with HEAVY weights matches up in difficulty to Cathe, in my opinion.

I think it's important to keep a mixture going, and combining the Firm and Cathe does that for me. If you all find Firm Volumes 1-3 too easy, then you're way out of my league! :p
