Hello everyone!
I don’t usually post on forums. But I was quite disappointed with what I recently saw in the forum from Cathe. I needed to post.
I was an aerobics instructor for over 15 years. It was always very disappointing to me when one student would come up to me and say “oh, I didn’t like your music today” or “I didn’t really like that routine.” Even though I would get 50 “Great Class” comments, the one or two negative ones brought my enthusiasm down. These people did not have any clue how much work it was to prepare a good/safe/fresh routine.
It is very difficult to construct routines, get great music, cue properly, give good form cueing, etc. A good instructor needs to put prep time into each routine to give the class a fresh/safe workout that they had never seen. And they must cue it just right so the class has enough time to learn “new moves” before moving onto the next. I can’t even imagine how difficult it is to produce a video.
The reason I say this is because Cathe is quite unusual. She has been so wonderful to answer questions by responding to the forum in what little spare time she may have. Many other video instructors do not have forums so thoughts can be shared. Frankly, I’m really surprised that she still does it after I read some of the “threads.”
Please everyone… Cathe has never disappointed me, and the last thing I would ever want is for her to stop making videos because some people are too opinionated and want every little detail of the videos to their specific liking. I am sure this puts a lot of pressure on Cathe. She cannot please millions of people on every detail of her video. But I know that she does her best to try to please us all.
She was kind enough to tell us what her current thoughts are for “possible” future videos this year (she did not have to do this). Let’s get excited that Cathe WANTS to make videos in 2002 (even though she will have a new baby and probably very little time). Let’s let her make whatever videos she wants, use whatever music she wants, let’s let her name all the videos, let’s let her pick who the participants will be, etc. If Cathe asks for suggestions, then suggest. Otherwise, let’s let her do the job she does so well that keeps us all healthy and happy!
