Need some Flu recovery advice

Cathlete
I hardly ever get sick but whatever hit me last Thursday, knocked me off my feet. No stomach stuff (thank goodness), just aches and pains, low grade fever, a bit of a cough, sore throat and some nasty, painful nasal stuff.

I haven't been sick at all since starting Cathe about 18 months ago and now I'm not sure what to do. How do I know when it's okay to exercise again? Should I limit the amount of time that I work out? Any recommendations for easing my poor, tired body back into this?

I'm anxious to get back to my workouts but I also do not want to experience a relapse.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

If it's flu, then I wouldn't work out at all until you're over it. If your body is feeling poor and tired, then you should rest it...you immune system will thank you for it...really.

Hope you feel better soon. :)

Take Gayle's advice(Gayle did you have the flu this year too?) I did and it took over a week to feel recovered. You need your immune system to fight off the virus and if you lower it with heavy exercise you will be worse off than before. if you must do something try stretching or a light walk. you will be better soon!

I just got over the flu, and I NEVER get sick - I called off work for 3 days, which I never do either. Rest, rest & rest is my advice. I didn't exercise much at all for 2 full weeks, again, something I never do. I now feel good, but it was nasty. Don't exercise if you're still tired - resist the urge. You won't gain lots of weight in that time, trust me.

I had the flu 2 weeks ago and I felt pretty bad!x( I was in bed for 4 days and the first day with 103 fever. After 4 days I tried easier workouts and still had trouble, so I may have tried to workout too soon. I think it took 2 full weeks to feel back to normal. The second week, I was still more tired than usual and a little dizzy and coughing.

Take care!
Gin:)

Thanks everyone,
I'm taking your advice. I still don't feel anywhere near 'normal' and I truly don't want to end up in bed again. A few more days of rest will (hopefully) do the trick!
