need some cuter workout clothes than what I've been wearing - HELP!

Okay, so since I work out in my basement I've fell into this awful habit of wearing the ugliest, grubbiest clothes I own (the shirts are literally falling apart - but I love them and definitely am going to keep them until they REALLY DO fall apart and then I will likely save part of them and make a running shirt quilt and give it new life)... which brings me to my question.... I need some nicer workout wear and knew that you (Cathe and everyone at the forums) could help!

I'm short - 5' 2" - 5' 3" and have a curvy shape so at the store when I can get the hips to fit, the waist is waaay too big. Can anyone give any brands or sites to check stuff out at?

I went to Dick's Sporting Good Store and literally tried on over 40 things and came home with nothing. So depressing!!! I am halting my running due to injury and am going to be ramping up with the new Cathe tapes for weight training and feel a "workout wear makeover" is in order!!! I'm a SAHM and so can wear comfy clothes and want to be able to sometimes wear some of my fitness gear in my normal life because my number one goal is to be COMFY!! Plus I find I'm more likely to go out and really play in the yard with the kids instead of trying to keep from getting sweaty when I'm wearing things that I can really sweat in (i.e. fitness clothes).

Okay, enough from me! I look forward to your suggestions. And THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for help!

Not Cathe, but I'm about your height and large-chested so I've had issues w/ WO wear too. Finally found a bunch of bras I love thru the Champion Catalog (can sometimes find good ones @ places like Dick's - look for high MCR). For the other stuff, I usually shop @ Target. They have a lot of cute stuff and the price is right.

Don't have any great ideas about the hip/waist issue.

Good luck!

Hi Lisa,

Have you considered the workout wear in the new 4-Day Split? The outfits look so awesome, were 'designed' by Cathe, and supposedly use a wonderful material. I was just watching Lower Intensity Step for the first time and I covet the outfits.

As an aside, I'm about the same height as you (and Cathe is too) and I can't believe Oh My Bod doesn't offer petite lengths, yet offers a 35" inseam. (The fitness industry is still sorely lacking in this!) I wish the outfits were a little less expensive too.

If you're interested in reading more about this line of clothing, you can do a search on OhMyBod in the Cathe forums.

Good luck in your search!

Hi Lisa,

You might like Prana. Some of their pants have internal adjustable elastic waistbands and tie string closures. I have the Grace capri in brown (love the soft fabric, sweat wicking, and fit!) The Blaire capri is so comfortable, very quick drying, and lightweight!!! The other pair of pants I bought had a roll down waistband. Anyhow, look around for a local shop. Sometimes you can find Prana on sale there. I bought my Prana outfits at Paiva's store closing.

Another brand that I like is Be Present. You can contact the company and ask if there is a local yoga studio nearby you.

I stay at home too. I found these to be good investments. They are the epitome of comfort! The fit is stylish and perfect for running errands without looking sloppy. I pick these over my Nike and Lululemon outfits ALL the time! They are not tight fitting clothes like Lululemon or scratchy looking like Nike's cardio pants.

Have fun shopping!

Hi Lisa!
I can certainly help you! What you get depends totally on what you are looking for. Ive found that the best quality but BEST FITTING clothing for working out are, of course, pricy. I like to wear my workout clothing out in public when I want to and not have people think I just rolled out of bed :)
Anyway, the clothes that the crew wears in some of the videops , such as the new ones as well as the Body Max and Butts n Guts from the last DVD collection are from Oh My Bod. She makes the clothes herself and I have a few sets and they are really great.
Oh My Bod dot com has them and they are made of a supplex/lycra blend. I find that the v-front pants look HOT, but they do tend to slide down on the hips (but maybe thats just cuz of my flat but and little spare tire hehe). The rolldown ones are real nice too and they have the matching tops.
KOS USA is another good company (dot com). These outfits are founf in the Muscle Max DVD. I have two of these and LOVE them! They are tactel/lycra and fit great. You can go to active-you dot com and eMail Sharon for her availabilities on these, but she has many left.
If you want other TOP QUALITY lines, they are pricy, but sometimes you can get them on sale, or if you don;t mind the cost..
Nina Bucci dot com has EXCELLENT clothes from Brazil.. and YES, they fit Brazilian style ;) The pants are great and I just ordered a second pair that are due to arrive tomorrow yay.. most Brazilian brands tend to fit rather small however.
Bia Brazil is another company that makes GREAT clothes. Fashion Fitness Wear dot com has a bunch of good selection from both of the two companies.
Check them out as the sites I have listed also have other lines and sales so check them every so often.
Good Luck!
