Need shoe suggestions

Hi gang,

I've been wearing Ryka studio shoes for years, for Cathe's workouts, and I like them very much. But it is so hard to get them in Canada. I desperately need a new pair of workout shoes, and of course, the only store that sells them is out of stock (they only keep them in stock for a few months of the year). Can anyone give me alternative suggestions? What's a good shoe for doing Cathe's high-impact workouts?

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi Sandra,

I've found that I really like the Nike mid cut studio shoes - I think the most recent ones are the air agora mid cuts. They are really great for the high impact workouts. I also like the Nike shox Rhythmic for everything, too - especially step. The real difference between the 2 is that the mid cuts are, obviously, higher - but they are a little more snug/stable for lateral moves (I have kind of narrow feet, so this is a plus). The rhythmics are not quite as snug, but are great for pivoting and all step moves - but are supportive enoughfor high impact, too.

Good luck with your shoe search :)

I am not sure about the issues you might have going through Ebay but I have had very good luck with a particular seller for all my Rykas and she has most anything you could want in stock. If you want her name let me know.

I think the best thing is to go to a running store like Fleet Feet and get fitted. I could tell you what I wear and love, however, it is for people with high arches, wide feet and PF so I'm not sure if that would work well for you :)

Hi Sandra...since I spend most of my money on running shoes...:)...I got some Reebok Crosstrainers at Shopko and love them for Cathe's cardios...I really miss not getting Freddys though in the US...those were great shoes...:)

Thanks for your suggestions everyone! I'll start searching the stores and see what I come up with.

Carole, where are Freddy's sold? I've never heard of them, except on these forums.

Cheers,
Sandra

Randi,

Yes, Cathe wears Rykas, and has in alllllllll of her videos. I'm not sure what kind she's wearing in the new workouts, but I think she told us either on the blog, or one of her Ask Cathe posts.

Cheers,
Sandra

I think they are only sold in Italy now. But they were sold before in a company in the US, not sure what happened. They were very good shoes.

although in Kick Max Cathe is wearing Avia. I bought these and really liked them but do like Ryka better. the Avia didn't seem to have enough support in the forefoot

Oh yeah. I forgot about that. I remember at the time she said she chose those simply because they were black. The black shoes and long pants really make their legs look longer in that workout.

Randi, right now I have Enlight, don't think Ryka makes them anymore. alot of people like the Enlight II (which according to a recent post of Cathe's Ryka seems to be making again). I like a little higher top for the lateral work and the wide toebox is great.
