Cathlete
hi everyone, first time on this forum! I need some suggestions please.

I am really interested in cathe dvd's particularly 4ds, b&g,dm and bodymax2...(sts as well but will wait for xmas). I am also thinking of p90x.

Here's the thing... I have weights ranging from 3 to 20 pounds, a bodybar of 22 pounds, bands, stability bar, 5 pound medicine ball, what I don't have is a barbell. I checked out the walmart one but they will not ship to Canada (where I live) and the walmart's here don't have it. I even called the walmart closest to me in US which would be Plattsburg but they don't carry it. The troy one looks great but the shipping is insane!!! Any fitness stores around me do not carry rubber coated plates which I really want for a home gym. So can I do these dvds without a barbell (I know dm doesn't need one)? Should I try p9ox first and if so which cathe would compliment it? Does anyone have a barbell metal and does it drive them insane?

Any suggestions would be great!

I have a metal barbell and metal plates and they're fine. I'm not sure why it would drive you insane? It's not noisy (there's a noise if you bang the plates together, of course). You can get barbell sets at Sears and Sportchek and probably Play It Again Sports.

You can always sub dumbbells for a barbell.

Hope that helps.

A lot of people start out using only dumbbells. You'll know when it's time for a full barbell. Don't worry about it until then.

You said the walmart closest to you doesn't carry it, but did you check walmart.com. If they have one on the site, they will ship one to your closest store and you just pick it up there. I don't think they charge for the shipping since it is their product for their store, but I could be wrong on that.

Also, just FYI, you don't need a barbell for P90X. Tony just uses the dumbbells.
