Hi! I've used cathe for a few months and i really like her! before cathe, i was using the firm tapes for about a year and noticed some definition, but not too much (i'm pretty active-I run, swim, play soccer and basketball). but, i feel like i get my best workouts from tapes! anywho...i'd like to check out some more of cathe's stuff, but there is such a large selection, i'm not sure what to get! i currently have IMAX (I love it, but could use something a little more difficult), powerhour, max intensity strength, circuit max, cardio kicks (love this one too, but need something a little more intense), and max intensity cardio. I'm looking for more cardio-fun, tough, without too much choreography, and strength tapes. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i think i'll be going with the dvds too. i've thought about both the intensity series along with the new series, but was wondering if i could just get away with the terminator for the intensity series, or just a few of the others (buying both sets is kind of expensive and i'm afraid i would be overwhelmed with that many new workouts!). thanks! Well you didn't say how much you want to spend...so I'll just make a couple of recommendations. I think you might enjoy the Boot Camp/ME DVD and IMAX2 (Imax2/C&W) is super fun! You might also enjoy KPC. Have you gone out and looked at the video clips?

For a good challenge though, you might really enjoy Terminator as it is compilations of the Intensity series and all 3 workouts are about 75 minutes each - they can give you a pretty challenging workout. I have all her DVD's so it's really hard to choose as I love them all!

I don't know if I've helped you but I wish you luck in choosing!

Edited to add: I think Bootcamp and the Terminator DVD might be the most challenging for you.

Do you have IMAX 1 or 2? If you have the original, get 2; if you have 2, get 1 (I think it's in the Rhythmic Step DVD). The IMAX workouts have less choreography but are tough. MIC is also tough yet easier to follow. The cardio in the CTX series is also easier (relatively) since the segments are shorter, and if you buy the DVD, you can mix and match your own cardio segments.

For strength, Pure Strength is it. Plus Slow & Heavy and the Pyramids. The endurance workouts in the Power Hour DVD are also great. Power Hour gave me the dent between my biceps and deltoids.

Prepare your credit card for its own workouts. You'll be charging a lot.:) It's cheaper to buy your DVD's in bundles. Cathe has smaller bundles that you can start with. You'll love her workouts. MOST of them, at least.

Curious - what do others think of the cardio quality of Cathe's workouts after Body Max? I found that Circuit Max and Cardio Kick, for instance, were way easier than the previous tapes. I was also seriously put off by the fact that her cast keeps getting fatter and *less fit with each tape. I love Step Works - very challenging - and Body Max - but are any of the subsequent workouts as good?

Feebs21,
This is a tough question. If you want fun with TONS of premix options go with the BB series. If you want fun with more intensity(workouts as is) with a lot of premix options go with the Intensity series. It is hard to say which I like best. If you wanted to get something from each series I would say:
Boot Camp/Muscle Endurance DVD - BC is different and wonderful and hard and has many premixes that can be added to another workout for variety or specific training.

Imax 2/Cardio & Weights - fun, fun, fun

Kick Punch & Crunch/Legs & Glutes - Awesome workouts as is, but also wonderful premixes combining both workouts! Some say KPC is not that hard, but if you execute the moves correctly giving it 100% it is difficult and challenging and intense in my opinion.

Pyramid DVD - If you had to choose between the Push Pull/Supersets DVD from the BB and the Pyramid Upper Body/Pyramid Lower Body DVD from the Intensity sereis...I would go with the Pyramids. Awesome workouts for strength/endurance gains. For me this is a strength DVD. Some say this is more endurance.

Step Blast/Step Jump & Pump - well I love both workouts but LOVE the premixes even more....My favorite premix is SB/SJP step & hi/lo cardio circuit premix. It combines the 3 step sections from SB with the hi/lo sections from SJP alternating the step and hi/lo sections creating a cardio circuit. I also like to do SB WU, section 3&challenge and 5 intervals from Imax or Imax 2. The options are endless.

Well, I will quit now. I love them all but the above are the ones I would narrow my choice to if I had to pick and choose. One more thought, if you have a programmable DVD player you can program the Terminator workouts into your DVD player. Once you learn how to do this it doesn't take long at all. Personally, I would wait on the Terminator DVD and choose some of the full workouts. Good luck and let us know what you purchase!
P.S. Can you tell I am "iced" in and have a little too much time on my hands today? Tee hee:7

Hi! As you know, I've only been doing Cathe for a few months now, but I have IMAX 1 and MIC and I just got step works and body max. YOu mentioned that you don't think any of Cathe's new videos are tougher than those? I just did them yesterday and today and I think that IMAX 1 and MIC are definitely more intense than bodymax and step works. In fact, I didn't really get that winded with either of those?? Maybe, I'm just not doing them right?

I think the quality of Cathe's later cardio workouts are superb. Both the Intensity Series and the Body Blast series has really tough cardio (especially IMAX 2)!

I have to disagree with the statement that the cast gets "fatter" and less in shape with each tape. First, I think Cathe's idea was to include "normal" looking people in some of her workouts. This helps not to intimidate people and make them feel like they can't do her workouts unless they are buff and have single-digit body fat.

Second, if you have ever seen any workouts from the Intensity or Body Blast series, you will notice that if anything, her crew is getting stronger, leaner, and even more fit than ever before. They all have 6 packs!

If you like the cardio challenge of step Works and Body Max, I would definitely recommend getting her later cardio tapes as well. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for the suggestions. As for the cast getting fatter - it's just clear, when you look at the tapes from, say, Power Max through Circuit Max - they really do get bigger and even flabbier in one case, or else don't really improve, and some of them have terrible form. So I found it sort of discouraging rather than inspiring. Good to know that the more recent tapes show the crew getting fitter.

Are the Intensity and Body Blast series, then, more intense than Circuit Max? I definitely would like to add another Cathe tape to my collection.

Many thanks!

MIC is way too high-impact for me, so I only ever do the step portion, which is great, and I love i-max. I agree that they're more intense than step works. But after that, there was a period when the tapes got easier, I found - Circuit Max, Cardio Kicks, and I think a couple of others. Circuit Max is a ton of fun, but I found myself getting annoyed when I watched it, and i only found the very last segment really challenging. It was certainly not at the intensity level of previous tapes.

What would also be GREAT would be another floor aero tape - Cathe, are you listening?<g> -- that one could travel with. Cardio Kicks uses up way too much space, for instance. Would love to see something that could be done in a hotel room.....
