Hi Cathe, im new to your DVDs. My mom just gave me some to try,and boy are they hard. I loved the challenge, and will do it again. I have a question that I can't seen to get answered. I am 5'2 and 120 lbs, I know that im not overweight, but I have fat I want to lose. My extra weight is my lower back/hip area. I know I can't spot reduce, but I also am confused! I do cardio and strength training 6 days a week, with no results except much more muscle. I have read a lot of stuff online that 60-90 minutes of intense cardio daily is what it will take. I wonder if 20 or 30 minutes hiit workouts are as effective? If I do a hiit workout do I still need to do something else after? Thank you so much for your time,I get so aggravated and confused! I also run 2 miles a couple times a week, but feel like maybe it's not enough. Thanks, natalie

Don't Forget the Importance of What You Eat

hi natalieg!
just wanted to throw out that what you eat has a lot to do with weight loss. i've worked out for years but it wasn't until i completely overhauled my eating (cutting out processed foods, smaller portions, cutting out most beverages--sweet tea, soda, etc--, and eventually becoming vegan) that i achieved my weight loss goals. i'm not saying that you should go vegan (although i highly recommend it for a variety of reasons), but i think sticking to a minimally processed, whole foods diet with little added sugar, salt, and fat is key to sustainable weight loss.
so, keep working out (striking a good balance between strength training and cardio...and varying your cardio with steady state and HIIT workouts), but make sure you're eating as cleanly as possible.
good luck!
