NEED HELP ON WEIGHTS

The only weight training I've done is STS since it came out. Next week I'll be starting meso 3 and this is the 4th rotation Ive done. I think I'm going to following fitnessfreaks get ready for summer rotation when i'm done with STS. I've made significant increases in the amount of weight I can now lift. When I do my other cathe workouts like MM, ME and all the circuits, what percentage of my 1RM should I use? I dont want to lose the toned muscles I have gotten so I don't want to lift to less, but not too much either. Help

One Cathe quote from PS "Back, Biceps..."

Not Cathe here (and understatement for sure).

But I just got done doing PS "Back, Biceps and Abs" (1999), and she makes the point in this video that one should one should do the required reps such that one has to to strain moderately to get through each set -- but not to the point where one loses form. She stresses that form is everything.

So say you are doing ME -- keep a record of what #'s you are doing for each set, and check as to your whether or not you are being taxed, and how good your form is. She mentions this in several of her strength videos.

That is a really good question. I hope that Cathe sees this and answers it.

I know that for me if I have built some muscle and I lift that weight at least once a week I don't loose it. I don't know if that would be true for you. So, say you have a comprehensive whole body workout, lifting at the heaviest that you can manage and still maintain form would do it for me but everybody is different.

CATHE!!! Hey, you in here?

do you think she heard me? its awfully far to New Jersey from CA.

Another thing to consider when selecting your weights is the number of reps you will be performing. Take an exercise like bicep curls, for example. During Meso 3 you can go quite heavy with the weight load since you are only doing 8 (or 7 or 6!) reps. But during MM or ME or SS or other endurance style workouts you are usually going to do more reps so you can't go as heavy without losing your form (and compromising your safety). That won't necessarily mean you will be getting weaker so long as you are truly lifting as heavy as you can for that particular number of reps. This is my experience, anyway!

If you are looking for more concrete numbers to guide you, maybe check out what you were doing during Meso 1 since that style of lifting probably most closely matches the weight training you will do w/ FF's rotation.

Just thinking out loud, maybe some of that helps. :p Hope you have success with whatever you end up doing!

Thank you all so much for your great suggestions. Some great food for thought. The suggestion with using the poundage from meso 1 is a good place to start cause if memory serves the number of bicep curls on ME is pretty high. I still have another month to go since I have to still do meso 3, but I'll keep you posted. Thanks again
