Need Help Choosing Cardio DVD

Miss Lee

Cathlete
The time has come for me to add to my Cathe DVD collection. I've decided which series to buy but I need to add some plain ole cardio to it (yes, I need more cardio:eek: ;) ;( ).

In terms of cardio, I would place myself solidly in the intermediate category. I'm trying to decide between The Classics and Cardio Hits. On shop.cathe.com, Cardio Hits is described as intermediate/advanced, but the Ultimate Gudie to Cathe's Workouts rate The Classics lower in intensity. I prefer step workouts that are more athletic and less dancy because I'm a total klutz and I have trouble with intricate choreography.

I'd be interested in any recommendations you have.

TIA

Well, I don't have The Classics, so I feel I can't say which is better. But I have Cardio Hits and I really like it, and though there are a few "dancier" moves, I think you could definitely modify them to make them more simple:) And, for instance, in Powermax, you could take some of the "power" out to make the workout less intense, at the start anyway.

I don't have the Classics either but I do have Cardio Hits. I would say Power Max is the most athletic. Step Fit isn't bad although it has a macarena-type cooldown. I think Step Works has the most dancy choreography (my favorite of the 3 but I'm sure won't be yours!). From what I've read in the past, she breaks down the moves more in the Classics. Have you watched all the video clips yet?

Marcy

I have both and find Cardio Hits to be much more fun and energized. Not that the Classics are bad per se, but the workouts start out much, much slower (this is why they're lower in intensity). I mean, like arm movements until you think you are going to start throwing heavy objects at the TV. :)

MARIE!!!!

How are you? I've been thinking about you and wondering if you're okay. Did you ever figure out what was going on?

Thanks for your opinion about the DVD's--you too, Marcy.

Michele! :) :) :)

I am doing much better, thanks very much! :) Actually, the vertigo still comes and goes but it's amazing how you get used to not moving in particular ways to avoid your brain tumbling around, lol. I have an appt with a specialist on the 25th, so hopefully we'll get to the bottom of this. I have been doing some research and think I either have Meniere's or possibly a thyroid issue (due to some other symptoms I've been ignoring). Or possibly I am just falling apart!

Anyway, thanks for asking. I hope you are well, too, and enjoying spending your cash on Cathe! Actually, I think CH and TC are cheap enough that you should buy BOTH. ;-)

:7 :* :7

Marie, please let me know how your appt goes. I'm glad you're feeling some better but I'd like to see you at 100%;) .

Buy BOTH!?!?!?!?!? Oh my--now there's a novel idea! I still haven't figured out how to put together a friggin intermediate rotation--lol! ;(

Speaking of rotations, the Project You rotation (Kathy Smith) is supposed to be a pretty solid intermediate one. It's not OUR Cathe but some people really seem to like her quite a lot. One thought is, perhaps, checking out what's in the rotation (type and duration of cardio, strength) and replacing the workouts with other workouts you already own...

Thanks for your good wishes. I have fantasies of being 100%, oy.

:)

I have Classics Vol. 1. I've had it for so long. I enjoy the step workouts very much. There is no dread factor and the time flyes by.

I have both, and I much prefer Cardio Hits. I agree with poster who said they thought about heavy objects due to the arm movements on The Classics. I can't even do the warm ups or the first segments on the workouts from this DVD. I have do a mishmosh to avoid the arm movements.

IMAX 3!!!!! Rocks! It is a lot of step and is not dancy at all. In fact, it was rated in a recent issue of Fitness Magazine as a way to burn over 2000 calories! I believe it. In fact, I am dawdling on line here trying to psyche myself up to do it in a few minutes. It is definately a work out you can't wait to finish but you are so proud when you are done.

Thank you, everyone, for your replies. I think I'm going to go with Cardio Hits since that seems to be the one most of you prefer. Kat, Imax 3 is probably too advanced for me but who knows, maybe I'll work up to it one day. I appreciate the time you all took to read and consider my request. :)
