Need a rotation to lose some baby fat in the mid section...

Ok this is a tough one. I am very skinny. I am 5'6" about 120 pounds and I have a 3.5 year old daughter. I am in fairly good shape but I just can't get rid of this little pudge primarily around my belly button (yea that area). When I sit down it really sticks out and I am unable to wear any form fitting clothes because my stomach likes to stick out...

I eat pretty good. I don't eat fast food and I eat about 5 or 6 small meals a day. If I do have a cheat meal or snack it's few and far between.

Right now I run about 3 miles 3 times a week and I am trying to add in some full body workouts 2 or 3 times a week. If anyone has had this problem and overcame it or know of a routine that could help me I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks bunches,
Laura

I don't know if this is what happened to you, but my lower abs have split due to my pregnancies. According to the surgeon ( I saw because of my ubilical hernia due to my last preg.) It can only be repaired with surgery, which he did not recommend and said its very painful. Anyway FINALLY I feel alot better about my abs- due to Cathe. I have increased my ab workouts from 3 days a week to 4; using coremax at least once a week and doing planks at least 3 times a week. I also just finished a 3 week rotation of S&H and the above ab work and I am finally happy with my abs and have been tucking in my shirts! I think s&h helped with the abs because you need good core stability for the slower counts. Hope this helps,
Deanie:)

A problem of mine as well, until recently. I believe doing the core work on a stability ball has helped along with lower abdominal exercises.

Normally, I do my workout which includes an ab routine...then later on at night while I am waiting for my 10 year to get out of the shower, I do lower abdominal work on my bed. My legs are off of the mattress so I get a longer lever-type work out. I have noticed a big difference.

Women tend to have more fat in that area and need to work it more. Just make sure that if you are doing lower abdominal work, you also keep your lower back strong.

Good Luck...and if you need any advice, PM me.

So, it is possible to have flat abs again LOL! I have the same exact issue! I have recently lost 2 inches in my waist, but right around the belly button there seems to be some fat stuck there! How annoying! Do you think part of it is just extra, stretched out skin, or just a fat pocket? I am starting to up my ab WO's alot. I trying to do more planks to.
Thanks, you guys give me hope LOL!!

Another one here with the baby-pouch! I've finally decided that a woman who is 5'4" (5'5" on a good day), and has two 10lb babies (5 years apart, mind you), probably has seen her stomach muscles stretch pretty far to accommodate the gargantuan offspring. I am almost at the end of Cathe's Jan 2006 rotation, and have been pleasantly surprised to see great improvement in my mid section. This is a cardio-intense rotation, so I didn't really expect to see my middle improve all that much (I've lost about 5 pounds doing this rotation). Last night, as I was doing the suggested 500 jumping jacks, and 10 mins of jump rope, it occured to me that these were probably the things that were toning my mid-section. You really need to brace your core during these, or you will end up with a sore back. I guess it's like holding a plank, vertically. So, maybe we all need more planks in our life? x(

Best of luck,
Sandra
