My sweet dog died. I'm so sad. :(

I am so sorry to hear about Hunter, I know it must be very hard for you. Just think about the loving home that you gave him for ten years, and how your family spoiled and loved him and made him happy.

Marla,

I'm so very very sorry! Losing a beloved member of your family is terrible! Hunter was a beautiful boy! My heart aches for you!

Nothing is going to make you feel better except time, I'm sorry. You will see Hunter again, when the time is right. Most of us have been where you are right now and please know that we grieve for you and with you. Huge hugs and comforting thoughts are being sent your way for you and your family, Maeve included.

I'm crying with you too. That's so sad. I lost my dog 2 years ago and I still sometimes have to choke back the tears when someone mentions her. Over 10 years they can become such a huge part of life - almost able to read your mind.

I'm sorry. {{hug}}

I just want to add another {{{HUG}}} here. I am crying while reading this. I have had animals my whole life and I swear they all take a piece of my soul with them when they die. But try to think about all the wonderful things you did with Hunter and how much joy he brought to your life. He left this planet knowing he was loved which is so much more than many pets have.

Take care of yourself, my thoughts are with you.

Hi Marla,

Just wanted to add, along with everyone else, how sorry I am for your loss. Pets really are such a part of the family. Big hugs to you...take care.

Marla,

Marla, I'm a lab mommy too...three of them and I can not even begin to say how sorry I am. My oldest is 11 and I know that day will come for her and I am already crying...take care and give extra hugs to Mauve from my labs Abby, Bailey and Corbin.

Marla, I am so sorry for your loss. I understand how you feel. It's just amazing to me how empty the house feels when one of my "pack" is doing a stay-over at the vet's. Our dog just turned 8 yesterday and I'm very close to him. I am dreading the day that he's no longer with us.

I think that if you spend a lot of time with Maeve, the two of you can help each other through your grief. How old is Maeve? I wonder if she will accept a new dog into the house when you're ready for one.

Take care.

Hi Donna. Thanks for your kindness and your thoughts.

Maeve is 5. Right now I'm just not sure another dog is absolutely the best thing for Maeve. She really likes to be the center of attention when it comes to other animals. She gets jealous pretty easy, so I feel like another dog might only make her life more difficult. I just don't know. I'm really torn on this because right now I'm taking her every where I go because I can't imagine her alone in the house (she's always had Hunter), but I also don't know if another dog would make her feel less important.

Honestly I just don't know.

Sigh.

I am very sorry for your loss. I hope getting out will ease your pain, even if only for a few hours. My sheltie is 15 and I know someday I too will go through what you sre. I dread even the thought of it. I will be thinking of you today!

Terri

Hi Marla,

I am so sorry for your loss. I haven't been online in a while and just got a chance to read this. I hope your family is doing well.

Marla I'm so sorry, I have lost 3 dogs, a cat, a bunny and a horse in my lifetime. The pain in grief is without words. Sometimes when we lose an animal we are made to feel like we shouldn't have so much grief by others around us. A stereotype that it's just an animal. However many of us love our animals just as much as a family member and sometimes more, the unconditional love we get from our animals is almost incompariable to anything else. So grieve, cry, remember, write a poem, know this process is different for everyone. It took me months to feel at peace and in the case of my horse even longer. The pain will ease and memories will become less painful and more joyful, for Hunter is in a better place and I know for a fact he's in great company.........what a beautiful boy. Big (((HUGS))) know many of us understand. Godspeed Hunter Rebecca
