my slim series results

Cathlete
I have been doing these for 2 weeks. I took 2 days off for some hip pain but that resolved quickly and I got right back into it. I used all the weights Debbie did, felt myself working hard and sweating A LOT!!! But, every day looking in the mirror I seemed suspiciously not thinner-so today I measured. I also couldn't seem to fit into my size 6 capri pants anymore. So... I am up 3 pounds, 1 inch in the waist, 1/2 inch in the hips, 1 inch in the thigh and even a half inch in my friggin calf! My saddlebags have returned on my thighs making me look like I'm wearing those English riding pants. In just 2 weeks!@! I am so disapointed becuase these tapes made me feel like I was really working my legs and burning calories. But, I have to admit, I had the same problem with the Firm. Perceived exertion really high but no results. I guess I just need the separate cardio and heavy weight workouts rather than the combined cardio-light weight circuit style. What a bummer.

I rotate the slim series with cardio instead of using the slim series only. I can't imagine doing these workouts every single day... I need variety. Anyways, I dont think that you are giving yourself enough time. Two weeks is very short to start seeing results. Maybe mix in some cardio and give it a couple more weeks.

Take care.

Beth, I'm sorry you didn't have better results. I do appreciate your review, however, since I don't have this series. Thank you.

I'm really sorry to hear your not gettin results. I actually have had the opposite happen. I'm currently in week 3 of the SS and at the 2 week mark I lost 1/2 inch on each thigh. Waist and weight were the same but we'll see what happens at the end. Also, just so you get an idea, I only have about 5-10 lbs to lose. I'm currently 5'5 and weigh 135 and been doing Cathe since 96'.

I have been toying with the idea of adding cardio every other day to these and also adding a tough upper body workout once per week. I do feel that these are what my legs have been waiting for. So, I am going to finish the next week and a half with this rotation and then I HAVE to start adding Cathe back in. I miss her!!!

Maybe you could stick to it until the rotation is finished and see what happens? Maybe you could double check your eating?? I haven't been doing as well as normal with the clean eating the past two weeks, but I wish I had. I probably would have had different results!;(
Good luck! If you really feel that is isn't working for you, get right back to Cathe! :7

Just want to add -- everybody is different. You just have to do what works for you... and what you enjoy the most. I did not try SS long enough because I LOVE Cathe too much!

I agree everyone is different.
My Mother-in-law used a similar workout approach (high rep/low weights) and ended up gaining inches in her lower body - she does not workout at all and has little muscle definition.

I, personally, have had excellant results from the Slim Series. I did a 6 week rotation (not in any particular order - just rotated each tape every day for 6 days per week). I am extremely pleased with the results. I lost 14"!!! I did clean up my diet (limited the bad carbs (like white processed bread) and sugar).
I still use the slim series tapes, but, now I just rotate my favorites (Shape it Up) in with my favorite Cathe workouts. My pants are still pretty loose and I'm guessing that I have lost more inches since then. I've been off that rotation for about a month.

I think I just need to have those 2-3 days of pure cardio to keep the fat layer down. I do still want to rotate in these tapes maybe once a week just becuase they are different and fun, and i do feel there is a good endurance "boot camp" style of workout feel to them. I kept on the exact same diet as always in order to have a good comparison to Cathe's workouts results, so I don't think that was a problem. I also noted myself getting cold a lot, like my metabolism was lower for some reason. When I lift heavy weights I notice my metabolism revs up and I have to turn the thermostat down cause I get overheated even just sitting watching TV. This last two weeks I have had to turn the thermostat up to 79 and still felt cold! Interesting....
