My S&H variation

I have been using S&H in a couple of ways and am wondering if anyone else has tried this. I change the count. One week I do the series with a 4 up 4 down count, then next week a 2 up 2 down count (more endurance), then the 3rd week I do the tapes as intended. I vary the weight as needed. I realize that I am not going to get the intended training benefits this way but I love doing a 30min body part. With the other tapes each body part is worked for less time. Any comments?

I usually do the S&H workouts using a 3 down, 5 up count (2 down just seems too fast to me in this workout, even though in others, it's not). I also will often do the last set with a 5 down, 3 up count.

I really like your idea of changing from 4/4 to 2/2 to 6/2 (though I'd still do the 6/2 as 5/3). You could even do it within the same workout; doing the first set at 2/2 with lightest weights, the second set at 4/4 with moderate weights, and the final set at 6/2 (or 5/3) with the heaviest weights (or the reverse, starting with the strength set). That should pretty much hit any possible type of muscle fiber!

Isn't it fun that the reps in this series are slow enough to allow us to play with them so much?

I'm like Kathryn and often do a 5/3 count - 6/2 just doesn't seem to have the same affect for me for some reason. I like your idea also and think I'll try alternating sets as Kathryn mentioned. It is nice to be able to tailor the moves to fit your needs!

I use a 4/4 count during those workouts, I want to work the negative more. I think it helps me getting both real strength and mass when my muscles are worked in that way.
