So this is off topic, but a big accomplishment in my book, so I'm gonna post it anyway:p:):p My other hobby is cross-stitch. I left it for sometime and came back to it about 2 yrs or so ago. I started the biggest piece I've ever done just after last Christmas and finished (finally!) last weekend. All that rain last weekend kept me mostly on the couch, x'ing away. 9 months! I created a kid in that amount of time. But it was mostly worked on on the weekends. It is for DH's office. He is a big fan of castles, and this one is Neuschwanstein (sp?) castle, his favorite. It still needs a final ironing and to be blocked and framed, but it is done!! I think I am going to put it in a dark brown-black frame. I am now starting a Christmas stocking for DS - that one should only take about a month. I hope these pictures come out right on this. Fingers crossed!

Nan

so the pics aren't completely clear when blown up, but the thumbnails look good. not bad for a 1st picture post

WOW!

That is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! way to go! I have done cross stitching in the past and have made many small projects, but when I try for the larger ones, they only get partially complete. I can't tell you how many boxes full of partially complete projects I used to have. This is quite an accomplishment!

from one who knows! WAY TO GO!

Dani :D

Awesome. I don't have the patience. I have tried very small projects and didn't mind those. My ex MIL had an internet company that sold the threads, designs, etc and she made amazing things herself. I was always in awe of what she could create. You must feel so accomplished - they look great :D

Beautiful! I so admire people that can stick to it on a large project. You can be very proud of your accomplishment! Well done!

Nice piece! It looks like a photograph:D
What size is it?
I use to cross stitch about 25 years ago and made some Christmas presents, but, nothing as intricate as what you did. Then I made a few quilts, learned basketry, and then offloom seed bead jewelry and bead stringing.... Crafts are fun!

Remember to post your other completed projects when you finish them, too. They are fun to look at:)

That is beautiful work! You should be very proud of yourself.

I have a social group that is called "Stuff like that there". For people that are interested in expressing themselves with art and sharing it.

No one has posted but me yet. You are so welcome to join if you like. I don't think people realize what a wonderful place it could be.

The only project that is showing right now is my paintings with acrylics. Would love to have you show your work as well.

The details in your work must be very detailed. I'm impressed.

Linda, would love to see your work as well. Come join too, if you like.

It's roughly 16 x 10 1/2.
It is based off a famous picture. When you see pics of that castle, that's normally the one you see. Its also the "model" for Sleeping Beauty's castle in the Disney movie.

Wow Nan, gorgeous!! Congrats on having the patience and talent to complete that! I cross stitch too (although not very well), and i find it a great way to unwind before bed after a hard workout. Would love to see your next completed project!

Beautiful work! I really admire your talent and determination. My sister tried to teach me how to cross-stitch and I just didn't have the patience for it.

Thank you for sharing!

Beautiful work ~ congratulations! :)

My grandmothers cross-stitched, quilted, and crocheted. I've only learned the last two. I'll bet it's very meditative and soothing.

That's beautiful Nan :) I've done a couple small x-stitch projects (baby gifts). That was quite a few years ago though. I started a large project like that (it was a lighthouse for my mom). Needless to say it's in one of my closets unfinished. But it's okay b/c my mom changed her decor ;)

Great work and please share future projects, I'd love to see them :)
