My nails are horrible

Hey everyone,
What is everyone using for their nails? I guess OPI Nail Envy doesn't work for me. My nails are cracking right off and peeling. I just cannot get them to grow. This is a new thing too, they used to always grow. Is there soemthing else that you recommend? My toenails are fine, no problem there, just my fingernails.

Sounds like the same thing my nails are doing..and i was using OPI strengthener for peeling nails.Mabe it is the OPI???The best thing I have used on my nails is the strengthener from merle norman.

Hi Dawn,

Since you mention that this is a new thing, I was wondering if you've recently changed your diet at all? If so, you could be lacking in some kind of nutrient that would affect them that way. I tried a pretty restrictive diet a few years ago and noticed during that time that my normally strong, healthy nails got noticeably thinner. You could actually see a ridge across them where they started growing differently. Hope this helps.

I have horrible nails that want to bend when they get so long,
I don't mean flexible, it is a permanent bend downward. I have
been told it is from curling my fingers into a fist when I sleep,
anybody know if it is true? Also, my nails don't have ridges
but they have "pits" or "holes" what are these?

Thanks,
Gwynn

Hi Dawn and all...not sure if this will be helpful or if this is what you are looking for, but I have been trying to grow my hair out. I researched and after spending alot of $$$ on things that HAVENT worked, I finally found a product that seems to. Its called BIOSIL. You take 6 to 8 drops per day either in liquid or by putting it into a plastic capsule, so it makes it pill-form. I have now used it for 3 months and not only have I seen a big difference in my hair, but the added benefit is that my nails are growing like crazy!! I have never had nice nails...paint for a living, so my hands are always in water. I have had to actually cut my nails lately because they are growing so fast and are so strong.
The good thing about this stuff is that it is pretty inexpensive. Around $20 for 2 to 3 months.
If you want more info...let me know!

I agree that it sounds like some kind of nutritional deficiency. Healthy nails shouldn't do that, unless you've recently stopped wearing fake nails (what's the fancy word for those now?).

On the other hand (no pun intended), if this is only happening to the nails on your hands and not on your feet, it could be due to some external thing like having your hands in water for a long time. I've seen some products on QVC, with testimonials and before-and-after photos, that look like they work well. I can't remember the name, but you can search qvc.com under nail. The have treatments as well as clear and colored polishes.

Dawn...I get Biosil from a iherb.com
Good service and like I said, its pretty inexpensive compared to other beauty products for hair and nails. There is alot of information on the product at that website...if you have more specific questions, let me know.

I have always had a problem and I have been using a product called Rejuvacote and it is FANTASTIC! You can normally get it at a local nail salon or online too. It runs between 12 and 14 dollars. You apply one coat every day. I always had splitting nails and they would break constantly. Now my nails look like they are manicured on a regular basis.

Hope that helps.:)
