My legs are like jelly !

Hi there ladies !
Something strange happened in the UK last night. Just before 1am, Britain experienced an earthquake ! I was still up watching QVC UK, and all of a sudden it just happenned - like a huge explosion. I was scared, though my children slept through it. My DH and I had to have a cup of tea to recover !
It was 4.8 on the scale, which is apparently quite low in general, but very high for Britain. One of these quakes apparently only happens every 10 years in the UK ! I am still shaking now thinking about it !
I can really sympathise with those that live with daily /weekly tremors - it is not nice.

Glad to get that off my chest !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bye
Anna

Hi Anna

I saw this in the papers I still can't believe I slept through most of the night got up twice but noticed nothing.

I guess that we tend to feel equakes don't happen here.

How bizarre.

Hi Anna & Babs,

We certainly felt it here in Bristol! It woke DH and I up just before 1am and frightened the living daylights out of me (even baby was having a good kick in Mum's tummy, in protest!). We didn't have a clue what it was and went around checking the house over. The idea that it was an earthquake didn't even occur to me - I actually thought it was a ghost (feeling a little silly about that one now in the harsh light of day!), but couldn't think what else would make our chest of drawers, portable telly and dressing table shudder across the floor!

They've just been saying on the news that we have approx 200 quakes per year here in the UK, but that they are usually very slight and would only rattle the chimney pots at the most!

I agree with you Anna, I'm glad I don't live somewhere where they are a common occurence!

Kaz.

PS - Anna, when I saw your post "my legs are like jelly" - I thought it was because you had done your first Cathe video!! I was about to welcome you to the CMSC - "Cathe Muscle Soreness Club"!

Hi Kaz,

Horrible, wasn't it ? I was just sat on the floor watching TV, and I could feel the earth rippling below the living room floor, but I actually felt 2 waves, even though the experts are saying that only one showed up on their scientific equipment. The second wave wasn't as intense as the first. Apparently, we will get tremors for days now we have had this biggy.
LOL your PS made me laugh, I am still awaiting my Cathe vids, I have gone for Mega Step Blast and Wedding vid, can't wait, though I was really tempted to go for IMAX ! But I resisted..... wish I could of resisted the 3 chocolate digestives I scoffed mid morning ! Oh well.
My first baby had a good kick in my tummy once, I was only 18 weeks pregnant (so she was probably tearing around rather than kicking). We walked past a pneumatic drill while it was drilling and Jessie was doing cartwheels and all sorts in my stomach, it was very odd because at that stage I had been feeling little flutterings since 16 weeks and wasn't sure if it was the baby or not, I definitely knew it was after the drill experience !

Isn't it a nice day today ?

Anna

Hi Anna,

Yes, it was very scary! I didn't realise we would continue to get aftershocks from a relatively small quake. Ah well, at least next time I'll know what it is!

I'm glad you've ordered some tapes - MSB & Wedding Vid are good first choices for Cathe workouts! Imax may have frightened you a little as a first Cathe tape!

Those first baby flutterings are strange aren't they? I started feeling flutters at about 3 months and at first I thought it was wind, but when the usual "bottom burp" didn't come, I soon realised it was the baby! Now (at 24 weeks) those "flutters" have developed into really good head-buts, kicks and elbow jabs!

Take care!
Kaz.

Hi Kaz,

Just wondering, do you ever get blow out days on occassions where you just think stuff it I am going to have a plate of Fish and Chips ? And if so, how do you deal with it ?

Anna

Anna,
You are talking to "queen of the blow-out" here! Food has always been the problem for me, so I may not be the best person to ask. Exercise has probably been the only thing that has kept me from being vastly overweight! I was about 2 stone overweight when I fell pregnant (gave up smoking approx 21/2 years ago and used food as a substitute) and I think I have already gained over a stone with this pregnancy!
Anyhoo, I have learned over the years that all these fad diets are just not for me! You name it, I have tried it in the name of losing weight! I am one of those who cannot just have a few pieces of chocolate - I have to have the whole bar or the whole box. Therefore, what works best for me is to have one day a week where I allow myself to eat what I want, be it fish & chips, a piece of cake, whatever. By doing this, I have found that I can be good during the week and look forward to my "naughty day" at the weekend. Having said all this, I have not been following this way of eating since falling pregnant, simply because initially I have the dreaded sickness, and now that has passed, I simply have to eat what my body fancies - even if it is chocolate dipped in mayonnaise (just kidding, honest!)
I hope this helps a little - I think it's about recognising what kind of "eater" you are.

Thanks Kaz, I feel better about having my curry sauce and chips tonight, I'm actually not feeling very well, so I was in need of 'comfort' food, it makes feeling yuk a bit more bearable. I am going to bed in a minute with some tea tree oil to hopefully kill the bugs a bit quicker. I think I shall call today my naughty day and then thats me done for the week !

See Ya !
