My green band broke

My freebie green band that Cathe sent out with one of her series broke yesterday. Should I order another just like it, or should I go with one more like what they use in P90X? I just ordered P90X and am expecting it any day now. I wasn't planning to use a band with it because I didn't want to buy one. But, now that I'm going to have to, should I just buy the one with the handles? If so, what size should I buy? And, of course, any suggestions of the best place to buy will be appreciated. (I will probably be buying the Iron Woody pull up bands, do they sell the handled bands?)

Thanks,

Lauren

Mine broke too. I tied it. I haven't ordered another one because I have bands **like** the P90X ones so I know I could use those.

Tie it and try it. Wait until you get your bands from Beach Body. You may find you like those better!

Mine broke yesterday, too! Of course, my kids thought that it was hilarious because half it landed up over my head.

I tried trying it but it snapped apart....maybe I just need to tie it tighter. Or just order another one.

If a band breaks, I think that's a sign that it's structurally weak, and tying it (do you mean tying together the broken halves?) is not such a good idea, as it can't make the band strong again.

www.fwonline.com has the bands, and also sells them in rolls (which are a bit cheaper than buying the individual bands, and allows you to cut the length you want.)

As for BB bands vs. 'the green band': BB bands are great for pulldowns and for how they are used in P90X, but I think the Dynaband-type bands, like the green one, are easier to manipulate for the way Cathe uses them. FOr example, I think that firewalkers would be more uncomfortable with the BB bands (which are cords, and would tend to dig into the legs).

Okay, so I'll replace my Cathe band with something similar.

But should I also buy the BB type band for when I get the P90X or will I be fine with weights? I did get the pull up bar and the iron woody bands. I'm just hesitant to spend more money . . . but if it will improve my enjoyment of the series, I will probably cave.

I know mine is gonna break any day now. They don't last forever. I have one of the kinds they use for p90x and I don't like it as much...it digs into my skin a bit and I find it really uncomfortable. You can purchase one at a sports store, it's not any better to get one through Cathe. I believe the green ones she gave away were the medium tension variety.

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

My green freebie just broke as well. It was in the middle of LIC barbell bicep curls with the band, scared the bejeezes out of me. I have some other bands around that came with pilates workouts, my green one's still good enough for firewalkers, love those!!}(

Take Care

If you have the bar and the IW assist set, you won't need the bands with handles. All of the other work can be done with dumbbells.

That's one move that I'm worried about as far as band breakage. It seems like it tests the stretch of these bands to the max.

Sancho, if you are looking for bands with handles, don't get them from BB unless you love paying double for stuff! I went to D!ck's Sporting Goods and bought a "Gym in a Bag" for $30, brand is getfit.com. It came with 3 bands, all with handles, a (useless) video, an ankle cuff and a thing to lodge into the door.

I used my bands in conjunction with the pull up bar for "assisted pull-ups".
