My grandma's car accident...but she's okay!!

My 76 yr old grandma was in a bad accident yesterday. She has stayed in shape all her life. She even taught excercise classes for seniors at the Y.

She was driving down a gravel road and lost control of the car and then it rolled down a hill. It landed upside down and my poor grandma had to climb out of the passenger side window. She doesn't remember the actual accident, but remembers climbing out of the upside down car and the wheels spinning like crazy. She was in the middle of nowhere, no houses or anything.

She ended up sitting by the car all dazed, and a mailman drove by and saw her and called the ambulance and my grandpa. By the time my grandpa got there, all he saw was the totalled car and the ambulance driving away. He was really scared because he didn't know how badly she was hurt.

She's banged up pretty good, but no broken bones and was released from the hospital!!! I can't wait to see her so I can give her a hug!!

This really inspires me to keep up with my fitness routine. Even up until my 70's and beyond, I'm going to be exercising. Maybe Cathe will still be making Senior Workouts by that time!!!

Oh, Dani, how scary!! I'm so glad that your Grandma is OK. Yep, I'll bet keeping in shape kept her from any broken bones.:) :) :)

Again, I'm so glad she's OK.

Danielle: I'm so glad to hear that your grandmother is okay. That's the important thing. Prayers go out to her. We had a similar incident this summer. My 62-year-old Mom, who goes to the gym three times a week, accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal at a T-intersection and slammed into a brick wall. A very nice man who witnessed the accident was kind enough to call my Dad and the ambulance, but he must have given my Dad such a fright that my Dad thought he was going to find my Mom dead. He drove from home on the wrong side of the road to get to the scene (not too smart). My mom totalled the car and they didn't find out until a week and a half later that she had broken her nose (air bag), so it had to be re-broken. OUCH! She also damaged her knees really badly. She crushed the car radio with them. I still think her fitness level contributed to a really speedy recovery. She's back at the gym and better than ever. These women are truly inspirational.

Thanks so much Robin! And Lynda I'm so glad your mom is okay and recovered from that accident. They are really inspirational!!
Your poor dad and my poor grandpa! They had to be scared out of their minds!!! I'm so glad I found this message board. You guys are so great!!

RE: Danielle!

Oh Dani I am so sorry. Your poor cute lil' grandma. Give her a big cyber hug for all of us. Sorry she had to go thru with that. Glad she is alright:)

RE: Danielle!

Awwwwww! Thanks Debbie & LuvCardio!! I will give her hugs for you too! I'm going to see her next weekend! She lives about a three hour drive away from here, so I'm making a road trip out of it. It's always so nice & relaxing over there.
