My first 10K!!!

I just got back from my first 10K race ever. I did a race called the Bolder Boulder in Boulder, CO. This race has been going on every Memorial Day for 28 years and it has 50,000 participants.

I was really nervous, but this race was FUN! There were bands along the way and everyone was super-nice. I can't wait until next year :) .

My goal time was 1h 10 min and I ran it in 1h 9min 15sec. Woohoo!! I did pretty well until the last mile and then I started to slow, but once I got into the stadium with all those people it was amazing. Here's a picture.

Just wanted to share! I hope that everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day.

Yay Karin!! Way to go. Races are very addicting so I suspect that you'll be searching for more to do in the near future.

In your picture, are all those people there for the BOulder Boulder?

You go Karin! Good for you! :+ :7 :+

Congrats! What a great accomplishment! :+ :+ :+

Edited To Add:

How many miles is 10K?

Congratulations on finishing! Good job!

This race sounds a lot like the Peachtree 10K Road Race that is every July 4th in Atlanta. I run this one every year. There are 50,000+ participants in this one too! It's amazing the number of people, and the entertainment along the way. :)

I ran it in an hour last year. I know I'll never do any faster than that, so this year I'm hoping to run it in the same time. Heat and humidity are huge factors in our race.

Again, congrats! :D

Karin,

That is soooo cool! I am so very proud of you. WOW! You are something.

Co. is one of DH and mine best beautiful places to visit. I would one day love to do this.

Thanks for the responses and congratulations ladies!!

Robyn – have you ever been out in CO to visit your brother? It is so great here, lots of outdoor things to do.

Robin – it was awesome coming into that stadium. I have never had so many people cheering for me before.

Lisa – wow, small world! Did your sons have a good time running the race? Did you stay for the skydivers? I was biting my nails the whole time. How do they land on that little piece of grass???

Elaine – yep, all of those people in the stands were there for the Bolder Boulder. Amazing, isn’t it?

Wendy – 10K is 6.2 miles

JeanneMarie – your Peachtree race does sound a lot like the one that I ran in. I hope that you have a great time running it this year.

Janie – that would be great if you would be out here one Memorial Day in the future and run this. It is an amazing experience.

Hi Karin,

We didn't stay since my sons had finals to study for and they wanted to get home.... that is a great pic you took. I'm definitely psyched to run it next year. Perfect weather also...I've run it when it was really hot and definitely more grueling!

Awesome job! I just completed my first 10K (cleveland marathon 10k) last week and it was a wonderful experience. Even though the weather was 55 degrees with rain and wind I am so glad I did it! The sense of pride when finishing was overwhelming and I actually cried.

I signed up last year and had severe diarhea the morning of the race from nerves so I did not race. (I know how much of an accomplishment a race can be!)

Great job!

Gosh Broyles60 I can relate...I am always worried about my stomach when I run so It is an extra wonderful accomplishment that you did this. Congratulations!!
