He is cute!!
DH wants an English Mastiff really bad! I don't know if I could handle the size!
Don't they weigh over 200lbs full grown?:eek::eek:

Many males do. I have a 6 yo male who is considered a runt. He weighs between 160-180. They truly are gentle giants. They have no idea they're leaving bruises with their wagging tails. ;)

Did you get another puppy??? How many doggies do you have? Not that you can ever have too many ;)
Yes, he was actually planned before my westie died and we got Titan. I also have 2 beagles and the 6 yo mastiff and you absolutely can have too many. I do.

Thor

Thor is a great hunter. He has lived with my parents the past 4 years since I could not find a landlord that would let me keep him once I moved back to the Philly suburbs. He loves to hunt. When he is inside, he plays with his ball or shews his bones. He will roll the ball away from himself and then run and pounce on it. He also runs and jumps off the back deck like he is diving into a lake. He rarely barks unless someone rings the doorbell. He barks even when a doorbell is rung on tv. I think dogs and people learn each other's habits. He is my "little" cutie!

Becky, Thor is a real cutie too! I love looking at pictures of fur kids:D

Rhondalyn, I told my husband about your english mastiff and he made me log in the forum just so he could look at him. He thinks your boy is really good looking! Still, I'm not so sure I could handle a big boy like that.
I've been researching the breed and watching a lot of youtube videos.
This is scary!!!

That's too funny Cynthia... I have a supervisor at work that has 2 that size and he had to buy a new fridge that has a door on the ice/water or he would come home every day from work with puddles all over the floor... they would have fun with the ice maker!

If there was some way to keep them in "puppy" size, I'd LOVE them... but I guess their puppies are also called 'full grown dogs' for other breeds :)

That video is too funny. Mine don't drink from the fridge though. ;)

Mastiffs are much more laid back than boxers. Even in their puppy stage, they have to nap frequently. My westie runs circles around him. But I understand your fear. My big dogs stay outside most of the time. We have several acres for them to run. They have their own room in the basement where they can come inside to get out of the weather and such but we don't allow them to live in the house all the time. The mastiffs do come upstairs some and the pup is in most of the time right now. They're good dogs. My oldest mastiff has adopted all the other dogs. My beagles love him and you'll see them out in the yard sleeping with their upper bodies on top of him. This is one of the reasons I haven't found homes for my beagles. (I've wanted to in the past) Mine have never shown a bit of aggression although they scare the mailman and UPS guys to death. You're probably already used to the slingers and drooling with your boxers so that shouldn't come as a surprise to you. ;) They're lovers and very protective dogs. Not in a mean way. DH used to check him by getting loud with me and walking toward me. Louie would quickly place himself between us. Of course, he loves DH, but he wasn't going to let him get to me.

Becky, Thor is adorable!

Thanks Cynthia and Rhondalyn!

That video is great. Those dogs are HUGE!!! They make Thor look pint sized even though he is about 100 lbs.

Ok, so I might be a bit biased on this one... but I truly think my furbaby is the smartest dog in the universe! DH and I were discussing this issue last night... that she is smart enough to know WHEN it is straight up 7pm and her Ball Hour play time, where either DH or I throw her favorite ball for a rousing game of fetch! Day in and day out, she will sit and stare at the ball we put on the kitchen island at 7 on the dot... You say "play ball?" and she lights up like a live spark!

Isn't that a trip?! My dog does the same thing. He knows exactly when it is 8PM and time for his evening walk. Don't let me be late, becasue he will come sit by my and give me that 'hard doggy' stare that says, "Well, are we going or not?". :D Oh and he is getting really good at catching treats in his mouth! I break up his treats and toss them to him and boy is he getting good a grabbing them before they hit the floor.
