my biggest obstacle to 5-day-a-week cardio

this could also be titled, "The dumbest reason not to exercise", but i had to "vent", I guess, and see if anyone has a way around this.

Statement: I want/need to do cardio 5 X a week. If I sweat on Monday, I'm anxious to sweat again on Tuesday and if I work out on Tuesday, I feel a drive to work out on Wed, etc.

If I take Monday off, taking Tues. off is easy, Wed., even easier, . . . and the dangerous downward spiral has begun.

Problem: I can't wash my hair every day. No matter what shampoo I try, the over-washing fades my color faster than I can afford to keep up with it, and my hair starts to look like straw.

Question: If I do cardio that doesn't drench me in sweat, is it worth it?

Worth noting: I DO take a shower every day ;-)

ok. Nowhere else but here will I find someone (HOPEFULLY) that doesn't roll their eyes at my dilemma.

I have to join you on this one. I have long hair and I really don't have the patience to wash it more than every 4 days or so. I have also found that the more often I wash it, the drier it gets and my color will start to fade as well. My goal, just like yours is to workout 5 days a week and of course after my workouts my hair is drenched and gross. It's ALWAYS a dilemna!! Sometimes I find that if I just let it dry and wear it up, it looks fine. Other times it continues to look matted and dirty until I wash it again. For me, it is worth it to workout with this problem though. I can usually find a "messy"/cute hairstyle to wear and if I really have to have "nice" hair, I'll re-wet it and blow it dry. But I believe that it's totally worth it to choose working out over perfect hair, in fact I feel like I do just that 4-5 times a week!

I don't wash mine everyday, I wash it about every 4 days. It doesn't seem to get dirty from sweating - I just still condition it everyday. I swear, I'm not smelly : )

I have had the same problem with my hair after exercising.I wear my hair up and the next day wash it. I usually wash every other day. And yes it is killer on my colored hair in making it dry. I have to use alot of conditioner. If I don't go anywhere during the week, I will go 4 days. They say that it is good to let the natural oils build up in your scalp. After washing my hair it is more shiny than usual. But it isn't often I can do that. And yes I have a very clean head!

Lat year I read an artile that you don't really need to wash your hair everyday. According to author, Washing hair everyday is due to Shampoo hair products manufacturers' ads.

Did you try to wash your hair without any shampoo, just let water rinse it?

Can't help ya here. I wash mine twice a day. My hair is coloured too, and it doesn't seem to dry it excessively or fade the colour. I use shampoo specifically for colour treated hair (and yes, I'm aware I spell colour wrong:p ).

I'm with Shelley (and what's wrong with COLOUR? ;-))

I must wash my hair everyday. If I don't -- I feel stinky and cannot quite wake up. Could be a mental thing, but I cannot imagine going 4 days without washing my hair.

My hair is coloured too ... but, then again, maybe it looks like straw all the time :)

I guess if you don't feel stinky going that long without washing your hair -- then it probably works out pretty good (less fading).

I use this product that works wonderful for days you want to skip washing your hair. It's a powder called Brush and Ready that absorbs oil or dirt in your hair. It smells great! I have medium brown hair and it does not show. It does give my hair a little lighter apperance and shine.

I've also used a product from Lanza - Be Long, to do the same as Brush and Ready, but it didn't work for me at all. It cost a lot more too.
